Just wondering if anyone actually uses escape pods as part of their routine gaming on EVN?
I have never used them and never intend to either. In my view, if my ship were under attack and I was in danger of losing the battle, I would try to jump system. If I was unable to do that my ship would more likely end up with disabling damage ie. a wing blown off. This would mean death for alot of the crew but not all, like the disabled AI ship ingame, where the crew calls for help and transport to a nearby system. I think it is unlikely for a large or medium ship to be totally wiped out in a massive explosion; as a captain of a spaceship you would be able to shutdown the dangerous drive elements of the ships engines, avoiding the ship blowing itself up. Space would be full of partially destroyed ship hulls. Unless there were a company with ships designed to collect these hulls and take them to breakers yards. In any case, if a ship were attacking me with the intention of killing everyone then it would target any fleeing escape pod and blow that up too. This is all hypothetically speaking of course -------------------- |
