Welcome to the Winter 07/08 RRL. Fasten your seat belts, I've been assigned the role of group leader for the opening battle of this session.

Readers please note, this thread is for GROUP 1 drivers only, please don't post here unless you are in Group 1 and have something meaningful to say about the session. If you haven't found the Winter RRL website already, its here.

First up, our group is (in alphabetical order):

Chris W
DANDY
Josch
MacGreg
Pax-raider
Valentin K

Note that the groups are part randomly assigned, part based on last session of the RRL, and are desgined to make each group have a roughly equivalent spread of skill levels. However, your group assignments for all subsequent sessions will be based on your cumulative results in all previous W-RRL races.

We will be racing 4 tracks this session, Small Rally, Bardagi, Lime Rock and Pembrey. See the website for specifics of the car classes being used, and the lighting conditions we'll be running in. If it isn't obvious for the RRL n00bs, you MUST race with one of the cars from the specified class for each specific track. Practice is highly recommended!

Second order of business is deciding who will host. I'm having trouble with hosting atm (many people don't seem to be able to join), but I know that DANDY regularly hosts 6 and more with no trouble, so I'm hoping you'll volunteer D?

Third, and easily the trickiest part, is finding a common time slot. Based on past experience we should begin by looking at weekends, with session times STARTING between 1700 UTC and 2000 UTC, which I believe is noon to 3pm US Eastern time, 6pm to 9pm Western Europe (ie: German) time. Sessions will likely be about 2 hrs long.

EDIT: see later in the thread for proposed race times.

I'm more than willing to host, although finding a time slot might be tricky. I noted Josch will be unavailable from the 10th-14th on the website..
I've got commitments on both weekends, but there may be time on the fringes, as some of the details are fuzzy as of yet. Weekdays, are therefore the best bet for me, any hour this week or early next week after tomorrow.

I do note that only 2 of us are in the New World, so an early-to-mid afternoon game here is an evening game over there. ..any takers

DANDY's schedule prevents either of the two weekends being used (although he might be able to race via a laptop while traveling he tells me). Josch is away Jan 10-14. So, given that its already Monday afternoon/evening and we haven't heard anything yet from Josch, MacGreg or Chris, I think our best bet right now is to find a slot (or possibly two shorter slots) on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday next week, ie Jan 15, 16, 17.

Can you please report your availability ASAP for those three days, for racing between 10pm UTC and midnight UTC (this is 5pm to 7pm US Eastern, 11pm to 1am German time).

Just right back from work few minutes ago I found Pax-raiders message, (thx!)... so here I am!
Well, Dandy already said it, I'm away from 10th to 14th Jan. After this time starting a weekday-session between 17:00 - 20:00 UTC and at the weekends between 09:00 and 21:00 UTC (or at another time) would be okay for me.

You can probably imagine, that it would be hard for me (and maybe for the other West-Europeans as well) to start a session (which takes 2-3 hours) about midnight and to get up some hours later and begin a hard working day in the job (or school).

I understand, but maybe we can do two sessions starting at 5pm US Eastern/11pm German? A typical session would be around an hour to 75 minutes, 90 minutes would be the exception.

Could anybody NOT make it for one hour sessions starting at those times on the 15th, 16th, 17th?

Starting at 11pm???????????

Impossible for me because I have school starting at 8 am every day, means parental control of my computer time........, so that time of day weekdays would be way too late for me. dry.gif

Sorry....., but what about Friday? That would be okay for me.

This Friday is no good for Josch
Weekdays are incompatible for Pax.
This entire weekend is no good for me.

The following weekend I can start any time (and I mean ANY) hour before 9 a.m. EST/1300 UTC. I will be in a hotel so hosting may not be an option.

This isn't 100% clear to me - do you mean you have to have finished by 11am EST each day?

Hi! Two questions.

1)Which lime rock park?
2)What countries are in UTC (I'm young and don't understand!)

Also i can host if needed!

That is correct.

It seems the best time, if there are no other conflicts, would be Saturday or Sunday (Jan 19/20) early morning up to 9 am in NA and late morning or early afternoon up to 1400/1500 start times in Britain/Europe.

I can be up VERY early if need be.

UTC ± 0 is the timezone of Great Britain for example......

Lime Rock is a track for Redline, it think it's included in the Fridge, Race 3

Hi Chris
1) The newest Lime Rock Park (find it on legacyoflies.com)

2) UTC is the same as GMT, so if you're in England it is also your local time. Subtract 12 from any times after noon to get P.M. times, so 14-12=2 PM.

OK, it looks like we're making progress, although we still haven't heard from MacGreg. He hasn't been on the forum for several days, he may be away. I PM'ed him, so with any luck he'll read this thread soon.

The times/dates DANDY suggests also work for me.

Please indicate ASAP whether you could race between 1300 and 1600 UTC (8am-11am US Eastern, 1pm-4pm UK time, 2pm-5pm German time) on Saturday Jan 19 and Sunday Jan 20.

These look to be our only workable time windows, and remember the session closes at the end of the day on Sunday Jan 20, our races must be finished by then.

I've seen MacGreg on iChat today, I sent him the link but he didn't answer me and disappeared 3 minutes later, he seems to be very busy.

Dates and time sound good to me

I guess we now also need to find a new host, given that DANDY may possibly have trouble from his hotel room tongue.gif.

Only MacGreg and I are listed as being able to host 6. I could host 6 fine with my old Quicksilver G4, so in theory my new Intel iMac should be perfect given that my internet connection is the same, but my router has been behaving strangely. I believe it may have been two different problems with port forwarding that I think I have now fixed. Will try some hosting over the next few days and see how we go.

Current situation:

DANDY
Val
Josch
Pax-raider

are all set for racing on both Sat and Sun Jan 19 & 20 between 1300 and 1600 UTC.

Waiting for MacGreg and Chris W.
