Group 3 Session Two
Session deadline: Monday, February 4, 08:00 UTC

Races Set Sunday 27th UTC-1800

Game Password: 2CV

Informal practice session set for Saturday at UTC 1800

If you are listed here you are in the right place

Mr Toad (Fangio)
Tomte
theSnail
Runner
Goldfinger
Pax-raider

I know you are all in shock at being in group 3, but after looking over the list of ne'er do wells above us, I think we might find it more pleasant to pad our resumes here amongst more charming sorts such as ourselves. I have raced with all of you and always had a enjoyed the time doing so. This should be an interesting group as everyone here can win races. Good luck to us all.

Looks like we have the maximum spread in time zones here, 9 hours.

So based on past experience shall we try for a weekend race first?

Please answer the 4 numbered questions below.

First Order of Business is a host:
We may need a strong one because of the time spread, or a centrally located one to keep the pings low.

1.Can I get a volunteer for primary and backup hosts?

2.Can you race on these dates? Please answer yes or no.

Saturday January 26
Sunday January 27
Saturday February 2
Sunday February 3

3.Feeling Lucky time: Can you race at UTC-1800 for each of the four dates? Please answer Yes or No

4.If this time does not work for can you please post what times you would be available on these weekends?

Please check the boards frequently until we get things sorted out.

Proud to be in Group 3. I look at the standings are realize there are good drivers for a VERY large part of that list. Everyone keeps getting better! I think these races will be very competitive.

1 - ashamed to say I don't know. I keep promising to test but there are usually good games going on when I get to lobby smile.gif I will definitely try to gather six racers sometime this week to test. I think I may be ok for hosting 6.

2 - I can probably be available either of those weekends, but the February dates are more certain.

3- 18:00 UTC is a good time

4 - 18:00 and earlier is best, but I can be flexible.

1. not a chance..I can't host unless you enjoy jumping 50 feet
2. jan 26 yes
jan 27 yes
feb 2 not likely
feb 3 not likely - I have midterms all next week, so chances are I won't be by my computer or at any shape to race that weekend,
requesting feb 9-10 if possible.
3. 26th: no, 2000 UTC is the earliest I can promise, later is better
27th: whenever after 1500
2-3 if by some chance I'll get a window it'll be at night which is AM for UTC

notes: I can manage 1800 UTC on the 26th but I'd truly rather not.
looking forward to racing with all of you

I believe I'm good for both weekends at that time. Will have to double check. I may be able to host, it seems like there are some people who can never join me, but it may be that this group can...? Given the extreme range of timezones someone on the US east coast should give the best pings (ie: me), but its probably impossible to find a time midweek when we could check it, perhaps 600 UTC, ie 7am German time, 1am US East coast, 9pm West coast?

However, I believe snail is likely our best bet as somebody who regularly hosts big groups successfully.

Let's see if Tomte and Snail can go on he 26th or 27th.

From what I'm hearing so far, few have even chosen a car for Monza 61 yet, Brands is so technical, and Silverstone at night, well who wants to just jump into that black hole. We would have twelve days to practice if we go on the 2nd or 3rd. But we have to take what we get.

Runner, we can't go on the 9th or 10th of Feb, we have to finish the session by Feb 4. So it has to be this weekend or next. We also have the option to do a meeting on each weekend and splitting up the session.

yeah, I'm well aware of the issues real life is presenting to our little rev limiter world. the weekend in february will not work because I know I'll be in the library for the day in almost its entirety. So I really hope for this weekend.
with that said, I for one will not have 2 weeks to practice just because I do have essentially 10-14 hour workdays (taking maximum load in 3rd year is suicide.. learn from my example. lol)

now with all that said, if my schedule doesn't work out with the rest of the group, drop me. I wrote that when I signed up; decide when to race ignoring my input and if by any chance I'll be around on race time I'll join.

1.Can I get a volunteer for primary and backup hosts?
You have one. I can host up to 8 players without problem. Snail and me could share the workload if necessary, but we're both in France, so you might have to live with some ping issues. Saying that, I hosted successfully races 3 and 4 in Leo's first session, because his connection got a bit dodgy (I was there only as a spectator at first though...)

2.Can you race on these dates? Please answer yes or no.

Saturday January 26 - yes
Sunday January 27 - yes
Saturday February 2 - yes
Sunday February 3 - yes

3.Feeling Lucky time: Can you race at UTC-1800 for each of the four dates? Please answer Yes or No
I can answer yes to all races. I'd prefer later though.
4.If this time does not work for can you please post what times you would be available on these weekends?
Sat: 05:00 - 24:00 UTC, Sun 05:00 - 09:00 UTC and 12:00 - 24:00 UTC.

BTW, group 7 spread session 1 successfully over two weekends. It was actually a very relaxed atmosphere.

This is where we stand so far: This weekend seems to be the ticket. And Sunday provides the best time accomodations.

Tomte: Sunday 1800 ok, prefers later

Snail: Sunday 1800 ok.

Runner: Sunday 1800 ok, flexible on time

Goldfinger: Sunday 1800 ok, prefers earlier

Pax: Sunday 1800 ok, Possible primary host

Toad: Sunday: 1800 ok, flexible on time

Primary host: not decided yet,

Secondary host: Tomte

2. ok for all dates - it seems we wont have much time for practice this time sad.gif
3. ok for UTC 18:00

We're almost there fellas,

Race Date Set: Sunday the 27th of January.

Everyone can make the proposed time of 1800.

Goldfinger (earlier) and Runner (later) would prefer to move the time somewhat.
Probably, if you two can work it out the rest will accomodate.

Or: we split the difference and stay with the original proposal and go at UTC 1800.

Snail and Pax seem like the logical choices for primary host, am seeking outside advice on who will be best choice.

Could everybody make it to a test session on Saturday? That way we could see if all 5 of you can join me. Theoretically at least, I'm geographically best positioned to give us the lowest pings. Alternatively we could just try it on Sunday and see if we can all join and/or who gives best pings.

Actually I think Runner said anytime after 1500 was ok for the 27th. I am ok with 1800 but I can go later if needed.

Yes, an example: I for one am very thankful not to be in MaxDamages group; He probably drives the Chaparral to work, he's very good with that car now.

Runner available as you stated earlier in the day.

What time would you like to start?

Sunday the 27th is still fine with me. If we can postpone it by two hours it would suit me well, but 18:00 is not a problem as such.

I would certainly prefer earlier than 1800, any time after 1400 is fine with me, but the West Coast guys may prevent us going much before 1700...

Okay,

Looks like all 3 Californians can race at 1600, 1700, or 1800.

Pax wants to race earlier than 1800, but can do 1800.

Les Francoises, if you agree on what works for both of you, we are done here, and off to the races.

Comme il faut.

Pax why don't we go with you as primary host, we probably have at least two other options if we have problems.

Good idea for a practice session on Saturday how about UTC 1800.
