Brook has asked me to lead this motley crew for Session 4 -- the first set of LONG races!

5 laps on Mt. Panorama
7 laps on Whitehill

Should make for some good runs.

For complete session info -- car classes and more -- see http://www.legacyoflies.com/rrl/W2007/Session4.htm

Take note that the RX-8 is currently removed from the stable for Race11, but the standing and the car itself are subject to change.

Our Group:

djpimley
Fuglz (The New Bird)
Pax-Raider
Goldfinger
MaxDamage
Runner
amped

First order of business is to establish a race time. We are spanning 9 time zones. Typically that means that only weekends are in play. We have the next 3 of those to choose from.

I propose we choose from March 1,March2 or March8,March9. Typically the most agreeable start times have been somwhere close to 18:00 UTC. So it's usually easier to begin with that suggestion and adjust as needed. Let us know if any of these will work for you, or which ones won't work, or which direction we need to stretch.

Second order of business is to choose a host and backup host. From the RRL pages it looks like amped has the strongest host, and is the closest we'll get to "centrally located". Pax might be the best backup host, and The New Bird can also handle 6.

Hey, take a look at the Standings! There are only 5 to 10 points that separate ANY of us from even the LEADER of Group 2!! Only 4 grueling races between You and everlasting Glory! smile.gif

GL & HF!

edit - fixed typos for 3rd weekend dates.

While it's on my mind, I propose we establish a race rule for the criss-cross on Whitehill (a.k.a. "the eyes of Zorro"). We don't want T-bone crashes on that intersection. Agreed?

If so, we all need to take the first turn in the same direction each time.

So, any preference?

I object to the above. I assume that there's time enough to see if someone is on collision course and evade. So unless I'm wrong, I think that all paths should be available, if only to accommodate for driver's tastes on racing line.

Hi RunneR,

Are you familiar with the track? The sight line for the intersection is very limited due to walls. As you come around the bend at speed, collision avoidance based on "see and avoid" just doesn't work imo. I think the risks outweigh other considerations in this case. Since you say "I assume there's enough time..." it sounds like you might not be familiar with the spot. If so, try a couple of runs to see for yourself. I'm here to organize, not impose rulings but I'm pretty sure that you'll see the problem.

Weekends, any reasonable UTC time (10:00 to 00:00 Saturday, 10:00 to 21:00 Sunday) is fine for me. I won't be around for the next couple of days but if you arrange a meeting for Saturday or Sunday between these times, I'll be able to make it.

1800utc suits me well, though I can do as late as 2200utc. Either weekends are fine - I'd prefer racing on sunday.

About to the eyes of zorro, I don't think it will be much of a problem, it makes very much sense to go right anyways.
If we do have a crash or two, well, it would just make it more fun. tongue.gif

Personally, I prefer Sunday also, and somewhat flexible on time; my preference would be 18:00 and earlier but I could live with later.

We haven't heard from MaxDamage yet, but so far Sunday 18:00 UTC seems like a generably agreeable time for everyone - either weekend.

Pending word from Max, I'd like to offer 18:00 on Sunday March 2. This meets everyones preferences so far and also gives us a week to regroup if there are last-minute problems.

2 NAY votes for the Whitehill track rule. I'm surprised, but I think I have to give deference to the *author* of the track wink.gif

march 2 sounds ok. I probably can't do this weekend anyway.
If one side of zoro's mask is going to be blocked, I also use the right entry side all the time...it has been a long time since I saw whitehill

Either of the two suggested weekends works for me, 1800 UTC or thereabouts is fine too.

As far as Zorro is concerned, if two people are very close, the person in second would be a fool to pick the other way because the most likely thing to happen is you'd cause the crash, knock you both out for 10 seconds and get hit with a penalty. So, I'd say leave it to player's choice.

Looking forward to running with you guys, group 1 was a little stressful last session; you saw the redlogs, but you didn't see the chat... ohmy.gif

Hey Pax, thanks. I had you down as already replying -- I was counting on my fingers, probably a bad idea. Glad the times work.

Maybe it's best we don't have a transcript of the chat. smile.gif Other than that one incident there was still a lot of good racing though.

Good point about Zorro. Pretty much how I figure to approach it -- if close, follow the leader. Not very likely to overtake before the intersection.

FYI, I'll have to run some further tests on my connection, as I think im being throttled....so hosting 7 may be a problem for me. Ill let you know for certain in a day or two.

As far as hosting, I believe I should be able to host 7. There were a few drops when I hosted in session 2, but there were serious problems with the tracker that day so its very likely the drops were not due to me; I hadn't seen drops ever before when I used to host more regularly. I will endeavor (endeavour) to test out hosting 7 this weekend, maybe I should even post a time for a group 3 practice session?

Sounds good. I'll try to make it but I can't guarantee anything this weekend -- I am indentured to my pager until Tuesday smile.gif

Great! It looks like we have a time acceptable to everyone --

Sunday, March 2 @ 18:00 UTC

Pax, if you would like to post a time for a practice session this weekend that would be fine. Whatever suits your convenience. If amped can make it, so much the better. There may be some of us that won't make it but you can probably pick up some others from the lobby. I may not be able to attend -- I am on-call and also (hopefully) making some home-made ravioli and dinner for guests. smile.gif

OK, lets make it 2000 UTC, tomorrow Saturday Feb 23.

I have to work part of the day tomorrow, but should definitely be back by then. The aim will be to test hosting of 7, so whoever is there will drive. I will of course keep an eye on the tracker to see if group 3 folk drop into the lobby.

Just a reminder that we race this weekend.

If you haven't noticed on other threads, RX-8 JTCC (v 0.9.2) is now allowed for Mount Panorama.

That is all

Fine with me, actually I'd prefer it, as Imola is sucking up all of what would be my RL practice time atm...

I was going to send out PMs last night, but had a bit of an emergency. I'll do that tonight for those who haven't responded. Hoping that Sunday March 9, 1800 UTC will work for everyone.
