I was trying to straighten my head after having it spun aimlessly from that last post... wacko.gif

On a somewhat-related-yet-not note, Jalis, has JTH spoken to you recently? Just wonderin' is all.

Here's something interesting for those following my story. For anyone following City of Heroes/Villains, they'll know that they released a Mission Architect that allows players to make their own missions. I started on a mission arc about my storyline here, except set in the City of universe. I didn't finish it due to some limitations in designating exactly which powers my custom enemies had, but I did create a couple of villains. Today was the last day I was playing for I let my account expire, due to ports for logging in being blocked from my dorm. Consequently, I took screenshots of all of the notable costumes I had saved. I had made costumes of both Admiral Samir Stukov and his apprentice, Rand. They're not 100% accurate to how I envision them, but they're fairly close. I also did one for CK-061, but apparently I missed a key when going through the list on him, so I don't have a screenshot of him. I'll either need a friend to get a screenie of him or wait until reactivation weekend. Anyway...

Admiral Samir Stukov

Admiral Samir Stukov, in uniform, of course. In-game, he's a Katana/Electrical Blast arch-villain (an arch-villain is one of the toughest classifications of foes) and uses a Talsorian Katana, which is essentially an energy katana. I should have gotten a screenshot of him with it. Instead, below, I'll show you a screenshot of the weapon itself. Katana/Electric Blast isn't possible for a player character to wield. The closest you could get would be a Stalker with a Ninja Blade and the Mu Mastery patron power pool.

Rand

Rand. Doesn't he look friendly? He's Dual Blades/Gravity Control arch-villain, the latter power set allows him to fling players around, or objects into players. Like Samir, he uses Talsorian weapons.

Talsorian Katana

Samir's weapon. Note Samir's was red.

Talsorian Dual Blades

This guy is using Rand's weapons, and matching colors too!

As a Yoshimitsu player, I've always been beyond saving. When a fight starts, you mash on the B+K and A+B commands with everything you've got and hope for the best.

Good guys? I didn't make any for the mission arc since the players would be the good guys. Plus, the options for civvies are rather limited, which leaves out a few characters. But, I did make one character in this as a hero...

Varus Laenas

Him in armor. Not entirely accurate. I never got him to level 35 where I could have unlocked some Roman armor, which would have helped in making it more accurate. The worst offenders are the horns on his helmet. They're supposed to be pointing backwards at about that angle instead of sideways. Anyway, Varus was a Willpower/Dual Blades Tanker in-game, though Invulnerability would have worked too conceptually (came down to a coin toss). Not going to bother grabbing a screenie of his weapons, they were too tiny. Dual Blades didn't have an option for big swords like Varus used.

Varus Unarmored

Varus out of his armor. Much higher accuracy as a result. And, just for fun...

Varus Fencer

Varus dressed in more of a Fencer garb. I was disappointed I couldn't have a hat with a feather in it, but I still had a pair of foils. Every character in the game can unlock up to five costume slots and I had already made my two concept-based costumes, so, I thought, why not?

And while I'm at it, here's Josh Isaac Tigerheart, who I also made as a character. Granted, he was in the Warbird and has only gotten an occasional mention in this bar, but I'm sure some might be curious...

Retro Isaac

The costume based on the character concept I had started the Warbird with. For some reason, this costume reminds me of Luke Skywalker...

Isaac Tigerheart

And the costume he ended with, and still the canon costume. For extra tid-bits, Isaac is a Broadsword/Super Reflexes Scrapper and was my most powerful character. He was my first level 50 (the level cap) and had the most in-game currency invested in getting him the best stuff. He was strong enough to take on some arch-villains by himself, which normally required teams to take down. And I hadn't finished getting everything I wanted for him either, and probably never will now.

Other costumes of his just for fun. I'm missing one of the costumes, I apparently never saved it, and it was one of his best ones too...

Isaac in civvies
In formal attire
As a gladiator
As a roman
Gone to the dakrside

Also, I did make Tiana as a character. But, the options weren't there for what I needed, so the costume is extremely inaccurate, including on important physical details. So, I won't show those in order to not ruin how you see her.

Oh, and as a bonus for everyone who's read the this post (or skipped to this line), I'll be posting again soon.

Thanks you two. Between eating pie in the cafeteria, dessert at a restaurant, and birthday cupcakes, I think I've had enough sugar in one day for the next week! And yes, birthday cupcakes. My parents wasn't sure if a cake would survive a three hour drive here, so they made cupcakes instead. They are a lot easier to store, however!

Felt compelled to do some more tvtropes digging. This time, however, I wanted to see how many I seem to fulfill in my writing.

First off the list (and undoubtedly the most somber):

Unfunny Aneurysm Moment. When I wrote about Megan's werewolf mom getting killed in a car accident, I chose it to kinda illustrate that idiots still exist in the 31st century A.D. Cut to nearly a year to the day later...

And I'll just let the previous page(s) speak for themselves. sad.gif Am I a banshee or something?

Race Against the Clock. Abused frequently to add a sense of urgency. I do try and avoid this, but oftentimes I can't think of any other way to give that "oo-rah" feeling. ^^;

Numerological Motif. The numbers 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 10 tend to show up a lot in the posts. 3 and 7 are somewhat more common, though there's one number in particular that has recently become significant in its own right.

Shown Their Work. Before I put ANYTHING down, I try to look at various things to see just how realistic things are. One of particular note is the mighty Titan AEX-4, which I used HYDESim to determine just how big a 5-MT blast is. Needless to say, the result wasn't pretty (the link to HYDESim is there). Additionally, the Chrono-shifter belt that Bowser brings with him during the Huron Mission was based on Einstein's Special Relativity - or more directly, as Bowser notes, the effects of Time Dilation.
As one can imagine, there often comes a point where it turns into "Stop Having Fun, Guys" - thankfully, a few devices, like the Phantasm-Class Cloaking device's Molecular Disruption Unit, fall into a scientific gray area - in that stance, I just take advantage of the fact and proceed merrily on my way. =P

Breaking The Fourth Wall. Subverted, kinda - Akasi points out that we've been writing this stuff the whole time, but his Ensign explains it away by saying that Mike and the others found the Huron Base. I may go back and tempt fate again, though - in fact, I'm contemplating putting up the following dialogue at one point:

MIKE: "...Wow. That was corny. Why are we doing this again?"
BOWSER: "Don't look at me - I'm not the one who wrote the script."
NARRATOR: "A-HEM..."
BOTH: "Sorry."
NARRATOR: "Thank you."

Of course, that straddles the line between merely breaking wall four, and vaporizing it outright. And considering the heated feedback I got...so yeah. ^^;;

Large Ham. There's a few points, but I'm a little hazy on exactly how one defines said trope - as such, your mileage may vary.

Satan. Also God, though I haven't had much chance to work in the Big Man Upstairs Himself (though, as shown, Augustine did make an appearance, which sorta counts).

Used Future. The Empire (and the JR/VA) use weapons that should have become long obsolete by that point, like the M-16 and AK-47 - though this is firmly averted by their heavier artillery, like the Omegas, the aforementioned Titan, etc. The reason? Well, to be perfectly honest, I have a thing for nostalgia - and more to the point, if it ain't broke... wink.gif

Multiverse. Indeed, the Multiverse OF Multiverses - no fewer than 6 different Universes (not including the Imperials) have been mentioned, or have stuff ripped straight from them, including Real Life, Metroid, Zoids, Mario (with a heel face turn, to boot), Nova (obviously), and Half-Life 2 (look hard - it's there!), just to name a few.

Alright, that's enough for now - I gotta get to bed.

Everytime I visit TVtropes, it messes with the text size in my browser.

Which is just as well, because I've never read an entry there and then came away feeling like I had gained new insight about that storytelling theme--I just have a snarky new term for it and a bunch of idiosyncratc

  • "Seralcard is a perfect example of the trope Morality Chain insofar as the loss of his friend and mentor, Cookie Monster, causes him to abandon Mrs. Peabody's quilting club and take up the mantle of Darth Meanie."
  • "Actually, no it isn't because Edward by the grace of God King of England, lord of Ireland and duke of Aquitaine sends greetings to all to whom the present letters come. We have inspected the great charter of the lord Henry, late King of England, our father, concerning the liberties of England in these words: Henry by the grace of God King of England, lord of Ireland, duke of Normandy and Aquitaine and count of Anjou sends greetings to his archbishops, bishops, abbots, priors, earls, barons, sheriffs, reeves, ministers and all his bailiffs and faithful men inspecting the present charter. Know that we, at the prompting of God and for the health of our soul and the souls of our ancestors and successors, for the glory of holy Church and the improvement of our realm, freely and out of our good will have given and granted to the archbishops, bishops, abbots, priors, earls, barons and all of our realm these liberties written below to hold in our realm of England in perpetuity. [1] In the first place we grant to God and confirm by this our present charter for ourselves and our heirs perpetuity that the English Church is to be free and to have all its rights fully and its liberties entirely. We furthermore grant and give to all the freemen of our realm for ourselves and our heirs in perpetuity the liberties written below to have and to hold to them and their heirs from us and our heirs in perpetuity. [2] If any of our earls or barons, or anyone else holding from us in chief by military service should die, and should his heir be of full age and owe relief, the heir is to have his inheritance for the ancient relief, namely the heir or heirs of an earl for a whole county £100, the heir or heirs of a baron for a whole barony 100 marks, the heir or heirs of a knight for a whole knight’s fee 100 shillings at most, and he who owes less will give less, according to the ancient custom of (knights’) fees.
    "
  • Except, Nuh-UHHH!

I dunno, maybe I'm just being ingnu'nt.

No sneakin about it, brotha.

I'm actually...not terribly original with my ideas around here. I've ripped everything from Monkey to obscure Sega Saturn games in my never ending quest to waste people's time.

Currently waiting for Shli before I get my stuff underway (Jalis is involved, as well - I've already sent off something to JTH for checking before I get to the other two).

All this, and I'm also doing college... >_<;
