I'm still waiting on that CSI parody. Yeah, a fishloaf never forgets.

Mike, that seems backwards from my experience: If its MechE, then college is doing you. What're you in this semester, anyway? Thermo? Manufacturing Processes? The dreaded Engineering Analysis (aka, 313, aka Sergei's Gulag of Pain)?

I've already got the Doomblade fleet thing going on. The problem is I'm waiting for IC time to pass and I don't know if anyone's gonna bite.

I'm actually doing Thermo, Numerical Methods, Fluid Mechanics, Materials Science, and Math 370 (aka, Calc-based Stats).

As for 313 - no, it's actually not that bad (Hell, I knocked out the assignment last night in about 4 hours - and I hadn't even started until then). The real issue seems to be Fluid Mech and MSE, though more the latter than the former, in some instances (though it can be the other way around).

EDIT: Nothing. You saw nothing. =P

Well, so far, it's mainly review for me - review that I'm getting a MUCH better grip on than I did last time I took the class. That said, I'm not too worried about it, actually.

I come here often and read but the fact that I don't take the time out to write anything makes me feel guilty deep within the icy caverns of my blackened soul. It itches. Whenever I do have time not devoured by work or unexpected family crises there seem to be other people and things that own, my, life. If you scroll down that last link you'll notice I won the ODST contest, in case anyone cares. Anybody? Nobody? Okay.

I try to reserve time for writing but the pull of my other vices is inexorable. I'm just driftwood caught in the current. Anyways, I want to write. Is that even worth announcing? "I will attempt to try."

Glad to see you're still around, even if you're just reading. Much better than a mysterious disappearance with no traces to ever be found. Anyway, take your time in getting back to writing. There's no rush and Real Lifeā„¢ comes first. In fact, we may all reach retirement before we hit 1,000 posts at the current rate (though I got the start of a series of posts I'm going to try to get up tomorrow).

For your heinous abscence, I shall eat that glacial soul one sno-cone at a time.

Wha-cha,

R0k, if your spare time is limited, you gotta follow your interests--don't force another (very time consuming) chore like writing on yourself if you'd rather do other pursuits. This is a passtime just like anything else, and it certainly isn't more noble or worthy than Black Company, chillin with the lady, or ODST. What's important is whether you got your mind off work for a while and re-balanced--its a means to an end, not an end itself. Well, maybe it is an end, but its really, really secondary and I'm shooting my argument in the foot right now. Moving on.

I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't bummed about your abscence too but honestly? Just read and say 'hi' around the OOC once in a while and that'll more than fulfill any social obligation you may feel; I suspect that a post motivated by guilt alone isn't going to make for good writing or reading.

Second thought:

I wonder how many kiloWatt-hours of energy I've spent on patronizing lectures In this thread? "Jalisurr, don't party at school! Warlord Mike, don't orchestrate chats between two onflicting friends. R0k, you're having fun wrong and shouldn't feel that way!"

I wonder if I could power a lightbulb? Or a fridge? Or China?

Guys, don't mind me. I have a hard time keeping my perspective, in perspective when I type, but it really does deserve a margarita grain of salt since I'm just shooting from the hip--I'm not you and I can't know the situation as well as the person sharing it. Keep your own counsel; I'll try to tone it down in the future.

heh, I have a hard time telling your opinion and the absolute law of the universe apart when you write. Seriously though, your opinion is valued. If it wasn't I'm sure one of these guys would have told you where to stick it by now tongue.gif

Edit: It's hard to quote you when you jump back in time and make the language more colorful. I feel like I'm playing scrabble against the guy from prince of persia.

And there you have my tentative offering to the bar. I can't say how much time I'll have to write but I had cool idea for a character and wanted to do something with her.

Edo Obscurum is Latin, it means Devouring Darkness. It can also be translated a whole bunch of other ways that don't make much sense.

Mike I hope I wasn't out of line writing Steven. If memory serves the Oblivion did have Agents visiting the station to offer help and support to various player characters. I thought that might help my intro. If you don't like it though I could always change him to some bureau guy, or some organization I can just make up as I go.

To all

It may or may not be obvious but I have no plans yet regarding Edo. No amusing or epic story line in mind just yet. That being said, I didn't describe the ship she hopped in at the end in great detail just in case any of you want to say it was your ship. The crew returns, finds a stowaway eating their poptarts. hilarity ensues? I don't know it seemed like a good idea at the time.

Edit: Okay, for some reason if Edo is found I really want her to be eating poptarts now. This amuses me.

The Empire as a whole is everywhere, but yes, there are a few Agents deployed to the station. smile.gif

Steven probably wouldn't have given his name - I'll let it stay, but Agents usually address themselves by their Operative Number, only stating their names to people who otherwise know who they are already, or probably wouldn't give a damn, anyway.

For average Agents, the numbers 00000 to 99999 are used, while more senior members (like Mike and Bowser) use numbers 0000 through 9999. That said, there are no more than 110,000 Agents operating at any time (because that's as far as the numbers go).

I did like his little exchange about Edo's possible Demonic tendencies, though - certainly adds a level of silliness. biggrin.gif

heh, I was trying to sprinkle in silliness wherever I could. Glad you approve. I remembered all the other Agents giving out numbers instead of names, but I didn't know what the significance of the numbers was and didn't want to give him a weird rank or something. For example, I could have listed him as "44728" and then needed to correct it later because everyone in the 44k range is a field medic. Or they wear red uniforms. Or they're only involved in research. It seemed like a reasonable concern at the time but now it seems silly, lol.

I'd love to be there on the day where HR accidentally hires that 110,001st guy. Either the whole numbering scheme gets shot to hell so that everyone has to say an extra 'zero' they introduce themselves and spend millions updating paperwork and software, or he gets assigned some weird special number and his colleagues go around thinking he's a secretary or something.

Either way, that guy is hosed socially.

I just finished reading. I like it, the humor was genuinely clever and stand-alone; it didn't rely on shock factor or outside references. If you'd like, I can join as soon as I finish my work today.

[EDIT]: On second thought, maybe I'll go for that Triple Word score. I play 'Ziggeraut.'

Well at least we made it to the intermission part. I guess that for the sake of story I'll just have to assume that William got out of there alive.

I've been watching Code Geass and Gundam Wing and thinking about the lack of giant robot action in the bar lately. I think I may just have to do something about that.

Speaking of which, once I get back from the Ubercept Universe, Alpha-Omega and I need to get in on that action... wink.gif

Rag, just out of curiosity, does this mean Leon survived? If so, I'm willing to go off on a little side-story tangent with him aboard Colosseum...

I'll still wait until the final verdict, but just thought I'd ask.
