[rrl] Summer 2k8, The Final Session Options

The RRL S2K8 Team is in place. El Guapo, Leoantix and myself have volunteered as the non-driver Directorship, and Kenners will be a participant support partner, assisting with the web site and probably other stuff if we grovel well enough.

This thread is dedicated to the discussion of any and all organizational issues. The RRL remains a series for any by the sim community, so participation in the discussion is heartily welcomed. Just keep it civil.

First things first:

Things for discussion in RRL Summer 2008:

- Car Choice
- Track Choice
- Formation laps (personally I think they're too much trouble, and in the same amount of time you can leave and rejoin a password protected race to get them in the right order. Also starting the race has led to problems once or twice.)

-Formation: In race mode, it's a good way to get warmed up (or insanely nervous). It's become tradition, and I'm for keeping it. The biggest troubles came from backing up instead of doing the full lap, so I'd recommend getting into formation gradually (as opposed to immediately on the back straight), proceeding around the course at a moderate pace.

Track/Car choice:

The Directorship (hopefully in conjunction with RC3 reps) will decide on swapping specific cars in or out to keep things interesting.

These were checked against previous seasons to ensure no repeated combos, and nothing is set in stone. Comments welcomed.

Here are mine:
We seem to be at the point where we can run a season of all-plugin tracks, and I'd like to recognize developers with this initiative.
One sore point is Dantona, which still lacks a NASCAR (yeah, I'm not big on ovals or that type of racer, but what the heck...) or another particularly good class. Hot Rods are there as a suggestion only. I tried hosting Lolas to (which have a wind-resisted top speed, draft well, and stick nicely to the track through the exits) trying to simulate oval CART/Indy but players didn't exactly enjoy it.
If there are any suggestions for this one, or someone wants to take up a NASCAR project to distribute as a community tuning challenge (with UV map for skinning from others, with some VERY tight performance restrictions in place). Free models would be fine for this I think, I don't see it as being all that difficult.
