It's too bad really. Redline looks like a really fun game but without working analog controls it's simply not playable on my iMac. I have 3 CH controllers (Joystick, Throttle, Pedals) and if they worked as they should, Redline would be really fun. I guess it's not really a shortcoming of Redline but rather of OSX, which isn't likely to get fixed any time soon? It is the one area where windows kicks Mac's butt. Oh well, I'll keep redline on the HD in the hope that Apple wakes up........

A few more details might help me here. 'CH' controllers? In what way not working?

A lot of us have had success with Logitech gear - particularly the MOMO.

I have a USB CH FlightStick Pro, which I used before buying the MOMO I use now, and it was certainly programmable/useable. Hmm... As to pedals/throttle, I'd think they'd be useable. For me, the trick was, if the joystick wasn't zeroed/centered, then as soon as you hit return to select an axis, it might not pick the one you intended. My kids still use it to play Redline on one of their computers.

I also used a logitech rumblepad II for a long time and it worked perfectly.

I plugged a momo yesterday and it took about 2 minutes to set up.

(2 minutes to set up.. and it seems might take 2 years to get used too... I really stink now)

Sorry gang, I got it working and was busy learning how to drive..... blush.gif

What I did was to disconnect the throttle and pedals leaving just the Fighterstick. I got that working (works great for now) so I've been tweaking it since. I have no issues with how it works, either - I like having just the one controller. Thanks gents. I'm off to find more tracks to race on...... tongue.gif

I am unable to Calibrate Axis on my MOMO, it goes into a loop in which I must force quit and restart Redline to get the app back to a working state.

Also, the MOMO occasionally loses its FFB, and again Redline must be restarted to get it back (no force quit for that). In the Challenges, I try over and over again to get the Viper through the S Curves- it either spins or doesn't turn, very frustrating. At some point, the Challenge begins and I don't have FFB and it is even harder to steer.

(I have switched to using plug in cars and tracks, rather than trying to get the Viper through those turns- I really love driving the Audi R8, it's a blast! Drifting at 180 mph is a gas!)

I can set Gas and Steering Tolerances, and they are extremely important. I'd messed it up when I was playing with the Demo and after I bought it last week, was distraught that I couldn't drive anything.

So I guess the MOMO mostly works, but I'd like to see it work better.

Joel.

PS My first post after all these years of reading for the various Ambrosia apps I use.

the FFB bug has been around since the dawn of redline, nothing you can do but simply restart redline every 11th race and you will get your FFB back. as to the calibration loop, its because of the split axis option. turn split axises OFF first, then calibrate without the silly loop, then switch to split axises ON after if you still wish. good luck ... hope it helps

note: there are plenty good discussion and past help in the device issue topic ... i reco you read through it and it may help with other MOMO issues that may arise

Thanks for your reply. I did do a bit searching (I wasn't allowed to post a reply until today, been searching for about a week this most recent time), didn't find anyone with the problem as I described it. Couldn't believe no one else had that problem, and I searched again and again looking for it.

I just followed your calibration advice, it still went into the loop. I was in window mode (always had been in full screen before) and was able to quit when I pressed command- q quickly after hitting return. But the thing is, I'm not sure why I'd need to calibrate, most of the time the wheel is centered and there is no pulling by the FFB system. But every once in a while, it goes a bit crazy and I think I'm driving a NASCAR set up to turn left more easily. It usually goes neutral at some point in the race.

Thanks. Joel.

PS Does anyone have any advice related to the MOMO and Virtual Grand Prix 2? It used to work, and now it doesn't. Redline is great, even better, but I miss the old VGP2.

heh.. When I'm driving, and suddenly my MOMO decides that straight ahead is not straight ahead any more, I'll ram the thing lock to lock as fast as I can - quickly enough that I usually don't end up off whatever track I'm on. And I NEVER try to calibrate the thing anymore. A quick lock-to-lock while you're getting the 3-2-1 is usually all it needs.

Joel,

I have my fingers in too many things. I play with a little web development now and again.
For some possible hints on this challenge, see my hidden site cool.gif at

Thanks, lgb, after many times going back and being confused as to how it would be possible to make it through that last corner, I finally did it! Fun to see your hidden site.

It really was a matter of patience before putting the right foot down hard when pointed straight out of the last corner. That got me through fast enough to beat the challenge.

Ciao. Joel.

PS It appears I never responded when Kenners said to not calibrate, that does seem to work pretty well. Thanks for that.

PPS I now have VGP3 and it has been tricky to get it calibrated with the MOMO as well, or else it's just damn hard to drive a GP car, which is probably the case.
