I got a game for one of my birthday's a while ago for mac. It is called "Oni", you are some kind of infected girl called "Konoko" who is working for the "TCTF", the police of the future in that game. The main enemy is "Muro" a guy who has the same infection as her, he has another wierd guy called "Barbaras" as his top gaurd. He is super strong, carrying a really heavy powerfull gun. What happens is, Konoko is sent out on a trial run to get information from an inside agent that has gone in a warehouse to spy on muro's men who are transporting illegal equipment. Their infection makes them stronger and able to go in a boost strength mode, when having a "hypo spray" (future bandage -heals instantly-) they turn purple.
This is a really fun game that I can play for a long time. I have beaten it on easy, normal, and hard skill levels. I would recommend this game to mac gamers. You are able to fight people with hand-to-hand combat, or use guns to kill them.
This game was made by bungie.
any questions or wanting more information please repy.

I still come back to this game just to play through it again from time to time. It'd be nice if there was less reliance on consoles and a couple more levels though.

It'd also be nice if the level environments weren't completely empty.
Still an awesome game, though.

I have a feeling most of our members already know of most titles made by Bungie though..
I remember the wait for this game to come out. Finally a game where I got to be a sneaky, backstabbing ninja in multiplayer!
Now well, I guess I'll just play around as a Ninja in singleplayer instead. Just too bad their Shrike Drop move is so non-damaging. (typical ninja throw, name taken from Samurai Shodown, as if you care)
Say.. Anyone fancy a game of Splinter Cell 2? ;)

A game with so much more potential.
I also hate them for taking away multiplayer.

I played the Mac demo when it came out, but unfortunately, I got the full game for PS2. Regardless, still a very fun game to play, and with an awesome soundtrack to boot. I have to hope that they'll release it as freeware soon like they did with Marathon.
Now, I've heard a rumor, so don't go killing me, butI heard that the Oni engine was supposed to be Halo. I dunno though.

Bungie won't release Oni as freeware ever. Mainly because they don't own it anymore.

I think that Take2 got Myth and Oni as their take. Bungie kept the rights to Marathon and Pathways, and obviously Halo. GOD Games doesn't have the Mac version of Oni for sale anymore, which is what keeps the resale value on eBay at something like 30 bucks.

Oni is a third person fighter

And yes, it is cool. There was a project some time back to hack multiplayer code in, and I seem to recall it got far enough along to actually work... over gigabit ethernet, and really badly

And that's a point, my Oni knowledge is pretty comprehensive, but it doesn't even compare to my PiD/Marathon or Myth sage powers; I should look some more into that. Now, excuse me while I go back to play AbuseSDL...

Oni, even in the incomplete form it finally got released in, is one of the finest fighting/adventure games ever released. LIke so many of Bungies games, it did things that games to this day haven't done.
And it's just so much FUN!! The control scheme was tricky to get used to, but actually ended up enabling you to do things that were straight out of a movie.

My god, it was frustrating in some places though. I thought the story was not bad either, and would totally watch it if it were an anime. There needs to be a sequel for that reason, plus all the potential it had that wasn't followed up on - e.g. multiplayer. A great game that often gets underrated due to the dull environments.

Damn you! Now I have to find my copy of it again.

There was one really annoying thing in the game though: All those "dodge the laser"-challenges. Very non-fun, and typically the thing that made you destroy random objects in anger as they killed you just before you got to that cherished save point up ahead.

Yeah, I heard they hired architects to make sure most of the buildings were architecturally sound. Added a sense of realism, in a way, but nobody wants to fight in an office park, c'mon.

The most ridiculous part of it is that most rooms seem to be filled with heavy industrial machinery or some random apparatus of unknown purpose, yet there are very few workspaces like computer desks etc..

I love Oni. I used to play it all the time, and then I got a new graphics card for my Mac (went from a Rage 120 to a Radeon 9200), and have been playing Halo constantly since.

Tell your dad he's crazy and that the heat would only matter if the iBook was on your lap.

Well, if your dad did let you play games on your iBook, then you could always order it from the Apple online store. When our family got our G4 when it first came out, it had Deimos rising and Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4. Tony Hawk was a lot of fun, even though I played it rarely, because we had the same rule about no games. My mom removed it recently because it was a whopping one gig, and we were running out of hard drive space, since it was the family computer.

I play graphic-intensive games on my iBook for up to seventeen hours at a time, and I don't have massive heat problems. Sure, it heats up over time, I just don't find it to be
that hot.

I find that my G3 ibook will run for weeks on full CPU use and won't use its fan, but if I do anything that uses alot of both the CPU and the video card (like playing unreal torney or EV nova), it starts using its fan as much as it can (which doesn't seem to make to much of a difference).

Last time I ducked into TekServe, they were selling these little stands for Apple laptops that would slant the keyboard. I checked them out, and it looks like they could nullify any heat problems with an iBook (since from my experience, iBooks disperse most of their heat through their undersides).

Some people get weird worries about heat and laptops. If it melted down under continuous use, then what's the point? I've seen only one instance of a laptop
actually overheating, and when that happens they turn down their cpu speed.

That's one of those easter eggs in the game. It doesn't happen often. I didn't hear it until my third time through. It was rather surprising.

If you let Konoko stand around for a while you can also hear her sneeze on rare occasions.

Does anyone know if there are any ways to modify game data? I would like to correct some mistakes in the game. Like the heavy TCTF troopers' back-throw that deals almost no damage, the ninja back-throw that is obviously far too weak. (should do equal or more than Konoko's suplex, realisticly thinking.), and remove the ninja's ability to perform infinite comboes. I would also remove Konoko's backbreaker move, as her suplex is pointless as long as she has the backbreaker.
