Have you heard Stephen Spielberg is into game development nowadays?
EA have confirmed that they are working with the famous director on developing a new World War II franchise. The new title can allegedly be described as "Medal of Honor meets James Bond." In the game, players will take the role of one of the world's first secret agents for the British. No title for the game has yet been mentioned.

Spielberg had stated that he is very interested in game development, taking time to use titles such as F.E.A.R. and Goldeneye as his inspiration. Rumor has it that the title will be officially revealed at E3 this year.

He also going to make games for the three new consoles. smile.gif

I think I'm going to throw up.

Another WW2 game? Awesome! I really feel that the genre is lacking in available titles.

my thoughts exactly, and yet somehow I've managed to avoid owning a single one.

WW2 games that I own:
ummm...
....
uhh...

I especially like uhh... Great multiplayer.

That actually sounds kinda decent. A good spy game instead of yet another shooter.

That said, I'm not the kind of person to get impressed by "big names" involved in a particular game. If Stephen Spielberg is in the credits, I couldn't care less.

I enjoyed the Medal of Honor series a lot. I'll be interested in seeing how this comes out.

Looks decent, of course it will never be for mac anyway. And the only thing I would think if I saw Stephen Speilbergs name on the game I was buying was not to have high expectations for the plot.

We have the exact thoughts, I know that Spielberg is a legend in movie making but I have doubts in gaming. But let's hope for the best that he will produce us a good spy game.

Can't he just work on Halo 3?

What's there to work with Halo3 ?Isn't a great game already with great developers?

Obviously you don't realize almost everyone who worked on Halo and the early alphas/betas of Halo 2 are no longer at Bungie... Not even Seropian, the guy who FOUNDED Bungie. Back when they were making Pong clones (gnoP), and the like.
Eji1700
Actaully have they even started on Halo 3 yet?
TheLoser
Wow, I haven't played Halo in AGES, but, back on topic, it would be very nice to get a spy game even if the writing was less than good, I just like sneaking.

Why?

Why?

Because we can't verify that the game will be the same/good as it would have after replacing damn near every dev who worked on the first two.

Yeah, but they didn't do anything cool. =D

I hope Spielberg can come up with a decent nonlinear plot.

About the WWII games, I rented Big Red One a couple months ago and it was pretty fun. I beat it in 5 days, but it was still fun. I think it Spielberg would make games, they would be pretty sweet.

Not what I was asking, sorry. *rephrases* Why did everyone leave Bungie after the initial stages of Halo 2? smile.gif

Sorry if I'm not updated on the Halo(gosh I don't even know the latest version of it). I'm more of a Medal of Honor gamer.wink.gif

I think in Seropian's case, he realized that some people's fears had come true: that Microsoft was an obstacle to making games the best they could be. So he moved back to Bungie's roots, i.e. Chicago, taking the Halo engine with him, and started a tiny game company (literally a dozen people).

I went to his talk at the Game Developer's Conference last week, where he explained his new business model (in a nutshell: lots and lots of outsourcing content creation). I had a chance to speak with him afterwards, but unfortunately it was the last talk of the conference and I had a plane to catch so it was very brief.

Yes, I had to gloat about that here sooner or later biggrin.gif .

P.S. Spielberg and a WWII/Spy game, sounds like a winning combination to me.

Co-founded Bungie technically. With Jason Jones, who's still there. But most of the Bungie old team have gone over to Wide Load I think. I know I saw Doug "Frog Blast the Vent Core" Zartman on the credit roll of Stubbs.

Back on subject, I wonder if he'll base it on the exploits of the Long Range Desert Group, which was later to become the SAS? They got up to all sorts of fun during WW2...

Guys, Spielberg has been involved with game development for at least two decades now. Haven't any of you ever played "The Dig?"

huh. I suggest clicking on everything in every possible combination.

Or rereading the walkthrough, I guess.

Actually, if that isn't enough, I remember that back in the day there were downloadable game saves at various points that you could hijack to get you past a particular part.

And that's right- I'd forgotten that Spielberg was involved in that. It's a good sign for his next game-if only he'd do another sci-fi(or at least not WWII) story in the same vein.

Shh!

This is similar to Hollywood Syndrome (you know, where William Wallace was nice really, and the Americans cracked Enigma).
