hey all, i had the ambrosia CD 3, 4, and now 7 but i lost my house in the wild fires of OCT 03 and now i dont have CD's 3 or 4. does any one have these cds or the exile game for download? can you order the ambrosia cd's 3 and 4?

He's talking about one of the games in the Exile series by Spiderweb, but perhaps he's talking about Exile in general. Those were... simply... just really really breathtaking games which you could play for hours and hours. There's a couple of Exile-related topics in this forum, take a look at them and the Spiderweb Software site and see if your curiosity is piqued.

i havnt played exile, exile 2 crystal souls in the only on i have play but i love it, i'll have to get the others and figure out witch one to buy the license for.

As i recall, Avernum 4 for mac is out now too. Now to wait on the PC version.

nm that, just looked at the site and the PC version IS out now. Begin to being download.

I was rather disappointed with Avernum 4. As a long time Avernum fan (I did not get into Spiderweb until some strange Google-ing session way back... and that was around the time Avernum 1 came out) I was disappointed with the heavily modified Geneforge engine.

Everything has been messed around with, and it doesn't feel at all like Avernum. However, it seems to be selling well, and a lot of people seem to like it.

hmmm. avernum 4 was by far the most dissapointing game from spidweb in a while (did not like geneforge 2 either)

its just not as good as.... well any of their other games. annoying movement system ect. ect. ect.
now Exile 3 Ruined World, That game is awesome beyond belief good (ranks up their with EV:O and Diablo II)

As for the Ambrosia CDs, pretty much anything that was on them ought to be available on the website for download now.

Avernum 4 really disappointed me. Not only was the engine a horrible non-improvement, but he also didn't include a character editor.

I generally never liked the levelling system in Avernum so in Avernum 1-3 I just immediately loaded my single-character party into the character editor and and cheatily loaded him up to max all stats - then I just bashed my way through the game to enjoy the storyline which was first rate.

I wasn't able to do this in Avernum 4 - with the combination of the crap new interface and this, I just didn't bother with it.
