Full Version: [ANN] -- Dragster file transfer utility announced!

Dragster is a handy application that takes the drag out of file transfers. Just drag and drop files or folders on Dragster's icon in the Dock, and away they go! Dragster can send files via eMail, upload them to remote servers, copy them to your iDisk, or copy/move the files anywhere on your local drives.

Dragster isn't simply an FTP client, it supports FTP, SFTP, SMB (Windows File Sharing), as well as AppleShare for file uploading. Best of all, you don't even have to know what protocol to use: simply select "Best Available" and Dragster will figure it out for you.

Dragster integrates unobtrusively into your Dock, making it instantly available when you need it, and completely out of your way when you don't. Even better, Dragster lets you set up as many customizable "Shortcuts" as you like, taking the drudgery out repetitive file transfers to the same person or server, and making them a downright pleasure.

BTW, we're updating the progress log regularly with how Dragster is coming along:

...have a look!

Interesting. I've recently begun sending files to people (more often than I used to) and I'll hopefully be getting a new computer soon, so it would be interesting to use Dragster to transfer files with.

Just an update, we've been hard at work on Dragster, and have made some really nice additions to it. But what does this all mean? You already have Transmit, or you use the shell to upload files, right? Dragster is a great addition regardless, because once you set up a shortcut, you can just drag and drop files to your heart's content, and they will be instantly transferred.

You can even initiate as many transfers as you like at the same time, to different servers, different protocols, whatever:

...which is very handy when you're frequently uploading files.

But there's a bigger picture here. As cool of an application as Dragster is, we're not just developing Dragster for the sake of developing Dragster. We're building an export framework that we can use in Snapz Pro X and WireTap Pro (and other future applications) which will make it as easy to send a screenshot or recording to your web server via SFTP as it is to save it locally.

Dragster also supports Rendezvous... err... sorry... Bonjour so that you can easily connect to servers on your local network that you may not know the IP address of:

Dragster now supports a file transfer protocol called "SCP"... the importance of this is that all you need enabled on your server-side is ssh. If you can ssh into a machine, you can upload files to it with Dragster... and you can do it very quickly:
