Here is a link to an old question that I have recently been thinking about:

http://www.ambrosiasw.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1399

So, is there a way to automatically take a screenshot after doing command+shift+3? Any help here is much appreciated. Thanks

Hello-
You can press command shift 3 to get SP X on screen, press the 1 - 4 key to select the Screen, Objects, Selection or Movie tool, press return and SP X will capture using that tool with the last chosen settings.

Hey, David...

I read this in that previous posting. I was just wondering if anything more was done to create a key combination that skips the selection screen and automatically takes a screenshot. I don't know much about programming, so I have no idea if it is a huge hassle to make this feature. Like the guy in the previous post, I sometimes take many screenshots continuously and therefore would like to be as quick as possible doing it. I appreciate the quick reply and thanks for the wonderful product.

Hello-
I'll be sure it's in the feature requests.

As it would only remove one key stroke from the equation, if the engineering issues get complex, I doubt it would be added. If it's not too dificult, I'll push for it.

I have a (for me) crisis that is a variation on this question.

I have a registered version of the program (registered to elliot noss) and when I bought a new mac I did a laptop-to-laptop transfer of my whole machine. everything transfered over beautifully EXCEPT snapz pro x. anyways that is not my problem (although it led to it). on the new laptop snapz still loads at startup and nags.

the problem is that I had not realized that snapz grabs preference for a "shift-command 3" screenshot! on my other machines that don't have snapz I simply hit "shift-command-3" and a picture with a simple name (ex= picture1) is sitting on my desktop.

I had a situation where I was grabbing a VERY important screen cap and did this and the unregistered version of snapz took the shot (it was JUST what I needed) but I had to return to the app I was in and closed snapz (hit the red "x") assuming the pic would be on my desktop as with the usual "shift-command 3" screen cap.

when I checked back hours later I could not find it (as you can imagine). I see here that an extra step was necessary. that pic is VERY important. I have not taken another screen cap and am desperately hoping that the pic may still be available in a cache or single undo directory or SOMETHING.

I should also note that I have recreated this on the old laptop. the behaviour was slightly different in that with the old laptop "shift-command 3" would then expect me to hit the "screen..." icon, hit enter and go through a save function before it appears the picture will be taken. on the new laptop the picture was clearly taken. I saw it (and again it was exactly as needed) but just did not perform a save-type function. the differences that I can think of are:

- old = 12" G4, 10.3.9 new = 17" Intel 10.4.6
- old = registered, new = unregistered

the fact that the picture was actually taken gives me a bit more hope. please help!

If it displayed the image, you most likely did take a screen capture, as Snapz opens the file afterwards. Did you check your Pictures folder? By default, Snapz saves screen caps starting with the name of the Application—iTunesScreenSnapz01.jpg, for example—in your Pictures folder.

Hello-
MadFax is on the right track more than likely.

With the open after saving option checked, SP X will open and display the image in whatever program your system is set to open images of that type in - more than likely Preview.

By default the image should be saved in your Pictures folder.
