I recently saved two movies from snapzpro 2.0, and both will not play. Quicktime gives this error "movie could not be opened". I just downloaded ver 2.03 to see if this would help. previously the save system audio checkbox would not work, but the microphone audio would. Not sure how to fix that, but I trashed the preferences file, and fixed permissions, and upgraded to 2.03 and now that issue is gone. Not sure what to do with the files that won't play. I also was wondering, since this has happened to me on several occasions if snapz pro unexpectantly quits while recording is there any way to go into some buffer file, and get those saved images or am I just out of luck. I did a search for both these issues, but didn't find anything. btw the saved files are *.mov files...in case that makes a difference, and my system info is below.
Thanks in advance,

Update:
Still can't play saved movies, they are saved as *.mo files...maybe I should try the different codec technique to see if that helps anything. Is there anyway I can open the files, or am I screwed forever by the movies that will not play? I also updated to mac osx 10.4.7....but made to difference. Is there a buffer file that is screwed up, or maybe a preference file I missed. I would really like to play the movies I made but can't play, anyone have any ideas?

Hi Doug,
I just tried out the demo of Snapz Pro and it seems to me that it makes these '.mo' files as a sort of cache and when the capturing has finished completely it is then turned into a '.mov' file. It would seem in your case (although I could be wrong as I have only tried out the demo) that it isn't getting to the end of the conversion process.
There is a preference file I think called - 'com.ambrosiasw.snapz.plist' - again I could be wrong and not sure whether you should delete this file or not, maybe someone else could help here?
Have you tried using the Apple Animation codec and see if that one finishes or not?
If none of this helps then maybe try deleting all components of Snapz Pro on your computer then restarting and then re-installing. That may help?
Best wishes,

Sounds like a start...I have tried changing the .mo to .mov, but that does nothing. So I started looking into the files....cause they are only less than 100K, some as small as 45K, and for a video file one lasting over 10 mins, that is way too small, but I don't know where the files are saved, or where they are pointing. I have been looking into hex encoding tools to take a peek inside the files themselves to get a clue what is going on, however I haven't found any tool that can open up the files. But I keep on searching. I will try the delete, and reinstall as suggested.
Update:
I just tried a capture using the apple graphics compressor verses the animation compressor, and it did save then play(saved as a *.mov file verses the *.mo I was getting) I will continue to experiment. However is there still a way to open the ones that don't work, or am I still SOL?
Thanks,
Doug
