After beating Half-Life 2 thrice and episode one twice, I found myself hungering for something more... so I started playing Deathmatch. Anyone else here play and want to put me in my place?

I'm considering buying it, but I don't own it yet. I have heard that the weapon balance is not good (i.e. you can shoot someone in the head 3 times with a shotgun and they will not die, but you can hit them in the leg with a filing cabinet and they do die. Or a toilet. Which does sound fun....)

Yeah, it's true. It's because of the health system, with its point basis. Though shooting someone with the crossbow (besides providing a satisfying 'thunk!') will also provide a one-hit kill. But I do love me my gravity gun... one time I played with nothing but it, running around firing toilets, filing cabinets, and bits of masonry all over the landscape. I find the shotgun pretty useful though. Especially in the hands of my enemies, it tends to do more damage than when I use it

Eh. Sorry but halflife has never really caught my interest, but I did like team fortress in the original. Halflife 2 however just didn't seem to have rewarding multiplayer.

I have the game, but i ph33r the lag I'd get connecting to a server outside the country.

I once played an entire game with nothing but the gravity gun. I came in first, but it helped that there were radiators, filing cabinets, and explosive barrels everywhere. What's your in-game name? I'll put you on my friends list and kill you next time we're on at the same time

It's a pretty mediocre multiplayer experience all in all. There's just no balance, and it's faster-paced than Quake III (and looks about as silly too). And because it's so fast you can hardly hit anything even with minor lag. HL2 is, however, a fantastic game, and CS Source is great too. HL2 DM not so much.

I'm loneigadzra on xfire as well, if anyone wants to friend me. I don't play any of the aforementioned games on a regular basis though.

Well, HL2 is a must, of course. I think I will probably ask for HL2, and ep.1 (It comes with CS:S and Portal, I believe) this Hannuka.

Portal will be included with Ep. 2, along with Team Fortress 2. HL2 comes with CS:S.

i just use edwin, sometimes i carry the clan tage [NI!]. and i own with the gravity gun, get me in a room with good space and lots of debri and i am nearly invincible. i suck under any other circumstances though.
