Full Version: my new years resolution, in music
Ambrosia Software Web Board > Ambrosia Classics > Escape Velocity > EV banter & brawl
champion
I realised while wandering about, listening to mp3s, I should listen to more music. More to the point, a larger range of music. So here's my resolution, from January 1st until the end of 2007, I will listen to 365 albums, and since I can only think of about 3 I want to listen to, it's up to you bastards.

So, give me a few, I'll build a list in this thread, then come 13 days from now, I'll start listening.

(note: I figure I'll build the list, then randomise. In the name of variety, and so I don't have to listen to scythes music all through my post new years/birthday hangover period).

You apparently missed my point. I'm going to listen to 365 albums next year. I know there's plenty of music around, this just seemed a good way to do it (plus, I like albums)

no, you apparently missed the point... here is what you do: you search for an album/song/artist that somebody that you're interested in. after finding said album, download it and browse the user's files who had the album, chances are if they have one thing you like, they'll probably have more.
this is much more efficient than asking a bunch of random people who all have completely different tastes in music what you should be listening to. one person might suggest bach, another... some mathcore band, and you might even end up with some boy bands or something.

if you do wish to just simply ask people what you should listen to, it might help to first tell us what kind of music you like.

EDIT: after reading this again, i just want to say that i didn't mean to be an ass, it just kind of came out that way. sorry smile.gif

hrn, what a pain, I edited this this morning yet it's still how it was last night (maybe I forgot to hit "accept edit" or something).

Anyway, in the name of variety, I'm only taking one of each band. Mainly because I don't want to listen to 17 pink floyd albums (and I already have one myself)
White Fire
In that case choose "Her Majesty The Decemberists" by The Decemberists.

It's the best one, if you had to only choose one.

Say's you, carrot killer. Regardless, I go for a walk after work for 40 minutes or so every night, I need something to listen to. I'll be disappointed if you don't give me something that makes me want to kick down peoples fences while I'm walking.

Ross's music will work wonders for this though, I don't think I've listened to those albums specifically, but they're my kind of walking music smile.gif
