Full Version: How can "Wii" interest you?

I figured since I'm getting one in the near future, I decided to make this topic. What games are you looking forward to playing on the Wii?

Me:

Twilight Princess (duh)
Prime 3: Corruption (double duh)
WarioWare: Smooth Moves
Smash Bros.: Brawl (I can't wait to see how Pit and Snake play)
C.O.D. 3 (Just TRY and find another game so synchronised with the Wiimote (and just for your information, Red Steel doesn't count))

What are you waiting for?

EDIT: Whoops, I forgot one more:

Super Mario Galaxy
Eji1700
Well COD 3, Marvel UA, and Rayman are the only ones I can think of that are out right now that I haven't played yet, and I'm looking forward to all 3.

Naturally prime 3 and Brawl are high on my list of games to come out later. Also maybe MK armageddon if they add everything they left out of the other version.
masterryan
Any Star Wars (Jedi) game that comes out will be sweet. I don't know any particulars though.
Ashen-Shugar
SSBB. SSBM was the only game I ever played on my Gamecube but maybe things will be different this time around.
Mackilroy
I probably won't pick up a Wii until Corruption is out, and I'm definitely going to check out SSBB and Super Mario Galaxy.
mWalk
Little brothers got a Wii. I've been playing it. I must say, not too impressed.

Anyone not wanting to play Zelda hates video games.

Sure the launch looks pretty week right now if you don't consider Zelda, which I've seen some people doing, and the only conclusion I've been able to come to is that those people dislike fun.
UE_Research & Development
I just want one of the damn machines.
The Apple Cøre
Emulate this. I dare you.
Veritus Dartarion
At first I planned to hold off on the Wii until I found evidence that it would have good non-Nintendo made games, then it occurred to me that I pretty much only bought Nintendo games for the gamecube and still got my money's worth (probably from SSBM alone, let alone metroids and zeldas). So while I haven't gotten one yet, I probably will when Brawl comes out.

yeah, but you don't need a Wii to play Twilight Princess. I went the Gamecube route, and am very happy with that choice, even if it's only a temporary delay.

I guess I hate video games. rolleyes.gif

I don't know what to think of the Wii, other than most of the people I know say it's great. As far as Mariozeldametroid, I'm growing tired of that.

That they could, Igadzra. That they could.

And Rama, could you please explain your statement? If nothing else, it'll be more clear to us. The only thing it tells me is you're tired of people saying if it's one of those three, it's got to be good, but what do you expect? They're gaming legends!

I'm just saying I'm getting tired of them being infinitely remade. I'm worried that when I die, they'll still be pumping out more Mariozeldametroid games.

I thought that they would make new franchises for the Wii. I forget where I read that.
Rossy
I have twilight princess right now, but I can't play cuz I don't have the Wii. How will you play SSBB because the motion detecting will make the playing wierd. Super Mario Galaxy will be cool.
UE_Research & Development
SSBB will not use the motion-sensitive controllers.

SSBB will not use the motion-sensitive controllers.

Which is of course one obvious reason for it being delayed.
UE_Research & Development
Was I supposed to source that statement? Check out the Wikipedia article, and its own sources.

The game was conspicuously absent from Nintendo's Wii showing at its 2006 Pre-E3 press conference. The next day, on Wednesday, May 10, 2006, at the After-Hours Press Conference, Nintendo officially revealed the game under the name of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Miyamoto and Sakurai, who were there to make the announcement, hinted that the game could have full compatibility with the GameCube controller. Sakurai said that the reason was because he did not want to "alienate those familiar with the pad." In an interview with IGN, Sakurai said the Wii's motion sensing features might not be included because, "we found that trying to implement too much motion-sensory functionality can get in the way of the game."[4]

Maybe 'will' was too strong a word, but I could have sworn I saw some other source saying that. However, I don't remember which one, which makes it irrelevant.

Huh? it was planned to never use the motion system and just use the old cube controllers. The reason it was delayed that I'd heard was because at first they weren't certain if they were going to make a full game. That and getting it online.

Ah. I see.

Well, 2 days of hunting for it, and I can't find it anywhere. The best estimate for a new re-stock I heard was a week and a half. sad.gif

I've looked online for it; I've found it, but...not in the price range or stuff I'm asking. All I'm wanting is the flipping console; all they offer is bundles which jack the price way up.

Even without the technical difficulties, if you were trying to push a console with a new control method, would you release a game for it that used the old control method with the first wave of software?
Eji1700
If that game carried the previous system and was used to show off the new online capabilities then maybe. Remember that the second biggest thing and what would be the biggest thing if it wasn't for the control scheme is that this will hopefully be the first nintendo system with actual online support. No one said it was a good idea but whoever the main guy is who made both SSB and SSBM wasn't sure if he wanted to make a third. If he hadn't accepted the plan was to rebalance and update melee and the key thing would be putting it online. I'll see if I can find the article where he talks about it.

Ah, I see now. That makes a lot of sense.

I just hope they add in characters because they'll make a meaningful contribution to the gameplay, and not just because people 'requested' them. I mean, Snake is supposed to fight with explosives and a cardboard box, so I suppose that's at least superficially different, but some of the other characters look like they could become rehashes of 'existing' characters.

Supposedly they're doing there best to not have any copycat characters this time. So people like pichu, Dr. Mario, Ganondorf, and roy/marth will either not be making it to the next one or be having serious makeovers when it comes to moves.

I'm sorry... I've looked at the Wii... and honestly, I can't see myself buying one. I've been a Nintendo fan since the days of the NES, never bought anything else for a console (mostly due to money concerns...), bought and played all of their systems... but... the Wii just looks dumb. The whole remote and "nunchuck" thing... ach. I would feel like an idiot picking them up. If I could use the classic controller for everything, I'd be satisfied, but if I have to use that remote thing... I'm playing a game, not watching TV!

Ganondorf, especially, deserves to become a unique character, seeing as he doesn't have any connection to Capt. Falcon, and he has his own signature moves from the Zelda games. I think it'd be extremely cool if he got a move that could turn him into a giant monster temporarily (obviously it would have a cooldown of some sort.)

Best game I've played on the Wii: Marvel UA

I'm considering just trusting all of you and buying marvel UA. I can't find anywhere to rent it.

My roommate came back from break with Elebits, and it's pretty fun too.

I feel the same way. Wii just doesn't look fun for me. Played all the Nintendo consoles, but I imagine this will be the first console I won't get from Nintendo.

I'll just say that they would have to go way wrong with a Jedi game to make it stupid. You're wielding a lightsaber in real motions, not depending on some FPS engine, or a keyboard and mouse. The moves would actually make sense.
Warlord Mike
Indeed.

Well, I've had a Wii (finally) for about a week now, but sadly, the only game I have for it (at this point) is Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam. It's definately a new experience for me, considering I'm used to using a joystick to steer my board as opposed to tilting the controller itself to steer.

As soon as my Player's Guide for it arrives, though, I'm heading out to buy Twilight Princess.

EDIT: Post 789...interesting. laugh.gif

Are you replying to our quotes or what? I'm a little confused because I'm pretty sure we didn't say anything about a jedi game for the Wii.

Jedi Knight 4 on the Wii... I want that.

I'm certain that there will be something like that, Vader. It wouldn't surprise me at all if it happened eventually.

Me 800th post. 200 more...
