I'd like to see SnapZPro's video encoding step separated into another program. This would mean saving video files in Ambrosia's raw video format from SnapZPro, and then loading those video files in the separate program to perform the conversion. Here's why:
- I want to make my videos perfect, and this means I may need to convert them multiple times while experimenting with different features (e.g., key frame rate). Thus it would be nice to have the option to start from the raw data file for each encoding.
- This new architecture would release the video encoding panes of SnapZPro from the confines of its weird execution mode, i.e., it could run as a normal OS X application, with access to all the normal UI stuff.
- I could record my videos during the day, back-to-back, and then post process them at night when I no longer need to make recordings. Right now, the encoding starts immediately after capture, and even if I could start a new capture, my microphone would probably pick up the fan noise of my laptop that the encoding has triggered.
- The encoder could be a Universal Binary.
Thanks,
Josh
