I had a problem today where WireTap 1.3 crashed when inserting CDs and USB Jump drives. Here's the scenario:

4 Hour Radio Show, client needs each hour as a separate AIF file, so I set up a schedule for each hour (start at :02 and record for :58)

At the end of each hour I convert the AIF to a WAV using Quicktime Player and then burn it to a CD. The first hour, I inserted the CD in the 2 minutes of "Off Air" time, but I wasn't quick enough for the end of hour 2 and 3 and inserted the CD while WireTap was recording the next segment. As soon as the disc mounted, WireTap crashed and I was unable to find a recovery file.....

PowerBook G4/1 Gig RAM/24GB Free on HD/10.4.10
Besides WireTap, the only other app running was QuickTime Player

Sorry for your frustration. Is there a crash log for WireTap Pro located in you Home/Library/Logs/CrashReporter folder? If so, can you please send it to help@ambrosiasw.com? We'll try and replicate the issue here as well. Thanks
