I am using iToner 1.0.2 with iTUNES 7.4.2 and iPhone 1.0.2. Sync Ringtones is NOT checked. I will lose all ringtones installed by iToner whenever I sync music through iTunes. I can sync contacts and calenders (no Music sync) without a problem. Have not tried to place the ringtones in my music folder. It appears that iToner places the custom ringtones in the iPod portion of the iPhone, even though they don't show up there on the iphone itself. But when it syncs with iTunes, iTunes does see the files and will erase them since they are not in the iPod music folder.
Yes it is. However, thanks to your post and question, I now know my problem. I have three computers I sync with. The office PC syncs Contacts and Calendar with no other sync items checked. A home PC syncs iTunes music with no other items checked. Finally, my MacBook Pro syncs Contacts and Calendar only. I install iToner ringtones with my MacBook Pro. So whenever I sync iTunes from the home PC, I lose the iToner ringtones. The iPhone does not have the benefit of the iTonerSupport.bundle. I'm sure was my problem. I moved my music to the MacBook Pro and sync the iPhone music from the Mac. This cured my (self-induced) problems. I can sync and keep all my iToner ringtones.
I must say that my purchase of iToner has been worth every penny. I hope Apple does not try (or succeed) in blocking this product.
As a follow up, I synced my contacts only (set to merge, nothing synced except contacts) with my PC. I lost my iToner ringtones again. So it seems that ANY sync with a PC iTunes will cause iToner ringtones to be lost. Are there any plans to support iTunes for a PC, or at least make it so a sync with a PC does not cause them to be removed? Thanks.
