Full Version: HELP! I can't get SheepSaver to run CivII

Hello all,

First time poster here, please go easy on me.

I have an Intel MacBook and dearly miss being able to play Civilization II (without having to restart in Boot Camp which, by the way, seems to work flawlessly for games).

Anyway, I was able to install and run SheepSaver. It runs fine, boots up OS 9.0.4 just fine. I can play simple games like solitaire, just fine.

But, when I try to run Civlization II, I get the usual warning Civilization dialog box that the CD-ROM is not inserted (I always play without the CD, I don't really care about the little movies). When I hit the "OK" button on that dialog box. SheepSaver crashes.

I've tried disabling QuickDraw. I've tried different resolution settings and color depth settings. I've tried booting without any extensions, but nothing seems to work.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Step 1: Try Just Tech or Just Games. A mod with jurisdiction here will likely move your topic there at some point, so no need to repost.

Try Basilisk II. Civ2 is 68k compat.

Man, I haven't played Civ II in years...

Also, iMove to Just Games.

For what it's worth, I've been playing Civ I in SheepShaver for a while now. I have to start in 256 colors, but other than that it works fine.
