There is a new Halo short film. It combines the last one (about a minute and a half long), with five minutes of human vs. brute action. It is pretty high on my list on Most Awesome Things I Have Ever Seen. Only regret is that they didn't actually fire the Spartan Laser. On the other hand, the way it was used gives a whole to meaning to the name "Spartan Laser".

Check it here.
It's about half-way down the page.

I watched that a couple days ago. It's actually made of of parts of some of the other Halo short films with some new stuff. It's awesome anyhow. smile.gif

Did you see the one where the guy shoots himself in the head? And the one with the traffic cone? That was a gutbuster.

What you say? The only other one I saw was Arms Race, the first one. Even so, I suppose you could say that this is the definitive one because it combines all of them. Right?

Yeah, I saw the arms race segment, and the bit with the ODST's up to the point where the one in the Warthog passenger seat got impaled by a Brute Spiker flechette round. It wasn't until I watched the complete Landfall movie that I saw the final segment.

Regardless, the short was extremely well-done, and is proof-in-concept that not only can a Halo movie be made, but it can be made in a highly satisfactory manner. Even though the aforementioned move is currently on hiatus, the concept has died and come back from the grave enough times to make me think it's gone for good.

FYI: That wasn't a spartan laser. While it may have LOOKED similar, it's actually a targeting mechanism. If you've ever seen Clear and Present Danger, they did the same thing. Tracking stations on the ground can look for the laser dot (it's infrared) and then calculate the trajectory of the Chief, thereby pinpointing where he lands.

I also saw this a few days ago. Watching it really made me want to hear more about what's going on with the Halo movie.

True. Good point.

Especially if they are indestructable.

"Jimmy, were you driving your warthog off of a cliff again!"

"No, ma! Honest!"

"Likely story! Look at all that mud! You're grounded!"

It was ok. The action was good, but it didn't seem very Haloish. The environment wasn't great either. The games had a definite sense of place, even if it was a strange place. This battle took place in what was quite obviously a destructible set, not any kind of a real location.

Well they weren't exactly operating with a multi-hundred-million dollar budget...

I know, I just expect a little more style for Halo, which is nothing if not stylish.

I was rather impressed, very well done
