Halo - I like the graphics and I hear the multiplayer is awesome.
Elder Scrolls - I like those kind of games. Go out kill stuff with a sword and save the world basically.

What system(s) do you have? Computer, console?

Regardless, I feel that one can't go wrong with a little of gaming history:

Oh, yeah. Good question.

I would also suggest LOTR Battle For Middle Earth, and Age of Empires as well. Command and Conquer, Uh, The Escape Velocity Series. Any Legend of Zelda game. SSBM.

Starcraft. About ten years old, still one of the best games ever made. And then get the expansion pack, broodwar. And then get Starcraft II when it comes out (oh, please, please, please be soon!).

I hope this isn't spam. Since it appears you are on a Windows box, the Orange Box is quite literally impossible to go wrong with. There is Half-Life 2, arguably the best singleplayer FPS of all time, two excellent episodic sequels to HL2, Team Fortress 2, arguably the best team-based multiplayer FPS of all time, and Portal, the most interesting and unique game to come out this year.

As Darth Vader said, the Orange box (whether on PC or 360) is amazing. The halo series is a great series of games, and I, myself, can't wait for Mass Effect to come out.

If I post anything else, I'd ignore me since those that i've suggested prior to this were things I've heard elsewhere. I would suggest due to personal experience, Metin2. I would also suggest Star Fox games. Games I've played that anyone else but me would like, my library of these is extremely limited.

I would recommend tales of symphonia, it has fairly good graphics for the gamecube, action-adventure, a part in it will blow your mind, the best storyline ever.

Isin't that the one you wouldn't let me play since it would take too long?
0101181920
Oh, yeah, speaking of long games, I forgot the best/second best game ever (possibly after Starcraft): Final Fantasy 7. Yes, the graphics aren't as shiny as the newer ones, but the plot is better. Must.. surrender... black... materia...
mrxak
COD4 is amazing.

Isin't that the one you wouldn't let me play because I wouldn't get anywhere cuz it's really hard and long?

Heh. I get it. biggrin.gif

OMG, I need to change that. Gee, thank's for that nice little image Data.

Metin. Uh, Homeworld.

Here's a partial list of some of the better things I've played lately

Wii: Metal Slug Anthology, Zelda.
Wii VC: Star Fox 64, Ninja Gaiden, Milon's Secret Castle.
Mac or PC: Deus Ex, the Geneforge and Avernum games, Tropico.
PC: Anachronox, Elder Scrolls Three and Four (both have their ups and downs), Arcanum, the PC version of FF8, Lord of the Rings Online.

It's pretty good, but I quit playing after I accidentally got stuck at the wind summon battle on my second playthrough because I went there before taking the boat to the area with the water shrine.

If you are looking for something professional yet cheap (read: free), you cannot go wrong with the Battle for Wesnoth. It is a fantasy-based turn based strategy game in which you recruit troops and lead them into battle. In my opinion, the best zero dollars you will ever spend. Plus, it is available for Windows, Mac, and most Linux distros, is of an extremely high quality, and is very moddable.
