Greetings all ...
I'm a long-time Wiretap Pro user, checking out Wiretap studio, using v 1.0.1 (2514:2561). 1.25 GHz MDD, running OS 10.4.11.

I'm scratching my head over the behavior I'm seeing when I split a long file at markers. I now have several new library entries, one for each split. (I should add that the original pre-split version is also still there - as promised.) However, each split seems to have some or all of the original long file hanging in there. I tried the obvious things, mainly "Delete selected audio," to remove all the audio except the described split. I select the excess, it all turns yellow, I press the scissors button, and the yellow goes away. But it's all still there So I have the original, plus 8 splits that seem to have much or all of the original.

This raises a few questions.
I'm assuming that your lossless recording scheme must be responsible for this seemingly odd behavior. I notice that the library entries are not treated like files. For instance I don't seem to be able to "Get Info" to see the size of each entry. Which, along with the "Export" features leads me to think that they aren't files - more like database entries. I'm supposing they might even be representations of the original, pre-split file - each displayed with the named split active, and the rest inactive. It seems to me that, if there really is a separate record of each of these splits ... the whole thing must be taking up a lotta disk space. I'm feeling like I *really* want to be rid of all that extra data hanging on with each of those splits because of the amount of space they must be taking up.

Can someone please illuminate what is really going on with the way this stuff is stored? Why the splits from larger files have all this data hanging on, etc? Or why else I can't truly delete the unwanted portions?

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide ...

Hello contrazz,
Sorry for your frustration. This sounds like an issue that we had in the initial release and have fixed since. Please select "Uninstall WireTap Studio..." from the WireTap Studio menu. Then download WireTap Studio again from here and install it.

When you spilt a file, a new lossless original for that split portion is created.

The files are managed by the Library. You will have one lossless file and a list of changes made to it. If you actually export the files from the Library, no extra data is attached. If you ever wish to remove the Lossless file, you can right-click the file in the Library and select the option to remove it. You can also disable the automatic recording of the lossless files in the preferences. Hope this helps smile.gif
