Full Version: Can't register my iToner...
Ambrosia Software Web Board > Ambrosia Web Boards > Utility Central
Mr. Zorg
I have iToner 1.0.4 installed on Leopard 10.5 as a non-admin user. I recently had to wipe and reinstall everything, I have been unable to get iToner properly registered since then. The registration screen just refuses to appear. I click the menu item -- nothing. I click the register button after the trial wait -- nothing. I then logged in as my admin user and WAS able to successfully register it there, and I even checked the "Register For All Users" option. But when I log back in to my non-admin account, it still thinks it isn't registered.

How can I completely wipe out all traces of iToner and start over (that is, where are all the pref/registration files I need to purge)?

Thanks!

Hello Mr. Zorg,
Try quitting iToner and then deleting the "iToner License" file from your Home/Library/Preferences folder as well as your Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences folder.

You should be able to use Spotlight to locate the other files. Aside from the application itself, there's a few more in your Preferences folder and the iTunes plug-in in your Home/Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins folder. Hope this helps smile.gif

OK, I've managed to successfully purge all the files, but the problem persists. My non-admin account just refuses to register. It won't even open the registration window. But the admin account does. Strange thing is, I've tried making my account an admin temporarily, but it still won't work on that account. Anything I can do to determine why it won't register on this one account? A log file or something?

One odd thing about this account is its home directory is located on an external drive, might that have something to do with it? I guess worst case I can just use iToner on the other account. smile.gif

Yep, that was it. Either that or the fact that the shared drive was a ZFS pool. Anyway, I got it working, only to learn on MacRumors that yesterday's GarageBand 4.1.1 update allows you to export custom ringtones to iTunes. Doh. Guess we won't be needing iToner anymore. sad.gif

I gave you the $15 for all your dedicated hacking efforts anyway, and that still stands. smile.gif

Its related to your home directory being on a ZFS pool. If you select "register for all users" it should create the license file in /Library/Preferences which should be on your main boot drive.
