Is there any way to use iToner with a jailbroken iPhone with a different password than alpine? I love iToner, but it's not very secure to leave your phone with the default password...

Hello,
Unfortunately there's no way for us to guarantee iToner will work with jailbroken or unlocked iPhones. One of the developers may chime in on this though, as they may have a better answer to your question.

While we won't guarantee or endorse iToner working on a jailbroken iPhone, you can download a copy of iToner and try it for yourself. There is a fully-functional demo period that will allow you to put iToner through its paces, before you buy.

Just download iToner from the product page ( http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/utilities/itoner ) and give it a go!

You misunderstand. I already know that itoner works fine on my phone with the default password, but if I change it from alpine it doesn't. I was wondering if there is anyway I can get it working with my own password (editing a plist or something).

Hello,
I understood you fine and see your concern. I asked one of the developers to take a look at the post when he can. I don't have an answer for you though.

When I first read the topic I thought you were trying to pour iToner from an iJet laser jet printer, or from an iXerox copy machine on your iPhone. That is not advisible as it will not only void the iWarranty but it will cause iDamage. iToner sounds iCool though. I might try iUsing it if I had an iPhone. I thought Iphones couldnt use third party iSoftware though. Do you have to iHack your iPhone to get iToner working?

No hacking required, iToner doesn't install software on the phone in order to function.

As no software is placed on your iPhone, and no hacks are used, no warranty would be voided.

iToner isn't supplying a password in order to copy files onto the phone. If it doesn't work when you change the password it is likely a problem with Apple's MobileDevice framework and how it interacts with the file sync daemon on the phone. Does iTunes syncing work for you when your phone is in this state? What does iToner do when you try to sync with your phone?

Syncing with iTunes works fine. In iToner, the sync button is greyed out. The first time I tried it there was a message in iToner about authorisation I think, but I've been unable to reproduce it again. (the ringones in the screenshot are added when the password it alpine)

looking at your image it doesn't look like you've added any files to the list to sync to the phone. the sync button doesn't become enabled unless you've made changes to the list(removed or added ringtones). Changes show up in the list with a chasing arrow icon to the left of the ringtone name.
