Normally I perform excellently at these types of puzzles, but this one has me stumped and frustrated. I know some of you people have already beaten the entire game, so you can help me out here.
I'm in the grounds of Zelda's castle
after I defeated King Zant. I'm at the gate on the west side of the castle which requires the proper spinning of 6 windmills in a pattern that can only be described as a triangle with three midsegments running through it, creating a shape resembling that of the
Triforce from this very game. I have to use my
Gale Boomerang to spin all 6 windmills to create this exact shape, correct? Well, that's going to be rather rough since I can only lock onto 5 targets at a time and all my geometric analysis says that I need to target at least 8 times in order to create the shape. What is the pattern for spinning those windmills?

1. You don't have to spin all the windmills.
2. It's not as hard as it seems
3. Look closely at the Triforce.
4. Look for a green line.
You should see the Triforce on the ground in a little thingy in front of the windmills. Either dig, or use the Gale Boomerang to remove the leaf piles from the top of it. There should be a thick green line following the the inner line of the Triforce in something resembling a sort of "S" shape. I think. It's been a while since I was there. I'll check back later.

Hmm, I'll look for that thing.

Yes, I found it! It's a diagram of the Triforce with a green "backwards Z" connecting two of the triangles. It can be found near the door it opens and it's oriented with respect to the windmills when you're turned towards them.
Thanks for your help.

The windmill puzzle there is entirely optional, however.

Now that I think about, you're right. All that you gain is access to those two treasure chests back there...

You're welcome, and by the way, what was in those chests? It's been a while since I did that.
And as long as we're asking questions, how do I get that last small key so I can get into that locked room by the boss door?

Do both West and East sides of the Castle Grounds. You'll get both keys (though the West Key requires you to dig near the Windmill Puzzle).

I think I got those already. I think there's a few chests I haven't gotten else where, but I'm not sure where they were. I've tried looking all over.

it is only a couple of chests, they aren't needed, you need to change to wolf form and go next to the wall and dig, you will then find yourself in a graveyard

I got to the graveyard, but I can't find the key. There's a chest somewhere that I saw, but I'm not real sure.

Read the big headstones at one end of the graveyard. They'll give clues on how to get that last key.

I give up. It mentions something about the cursed swordsman sleeping in front of the sacred tree, and something about "In the land where the rain stops, the statue of time moves." I'm clueless. I found a spot where I thought you were supposed to move two blocks where you move those two statues behind the gate, but I can't get the gate open.

Blow up the rock embedded in the ground under the tree. The rest will become clearer from there.

I know. They just point off in the direction of the exit. I looked around in the area past that, and didn't find anything, and didn't see anything blow upable around the tree. I'll look later. It's getting late and I need to get to bed.

There are more cursed soldiers by the tree. And they are all pointing at the bolder you need to blow up.

Alternatively, you can use the Ball and Chain to demolish the stone, and it'll save you a bomb or two. Also, use the Ball and Chain (or Bomb Arrows) on the Stalfos in the area.

You mean those piles of bricks that I tried a billion times to climb up on?

No, no, no, no, no. You know that big dead tree in the northern section of the graveyard? The stone in front of it should look somewhat suspicious.
