Full Version: Ambrosia "clamshells" for MacWorld
Ambrosia Software Web Board > Ambrosia Web Boards > Ambrosia Banter
andrew
So every year we go to MacWorld, we want to have something for people to take away after they visit our booth. We could just do handouts that show the features of our products in glowing terms, but we think it works better to give people something tangible that they can try.

With that in mind, we create "clamshell" DVD packages that people can take away. Instead of one generic DVD + handouts (which can easily get lost or separated), we've created 4 DVDs that hilite the products we're showing.

(As an aside, we'll also be showing some other stuff at our booth, giving away schwag like t-shirts, "I'd Tap That!" pins, etc., as well as offering discounts, so please come visit us at booth # W-4216 if only to stop by and say "hi!")

Here are the four clamshell designs that we're going to be giving out at MacWorld. There are four panels for each clamshell, in general terms, here's what they each are:

Front = Attractant; this is meant to be visually pleasing, and brand the name of the product featured inside
Back = Summary; this tells people what is on the DVD in a bit more detail, what it can do, etc.
Inside = Install instructions; gotta lead people through what they need to do in order to install and try out the product
Sleeve = Decoration; this is where a circular cutout is made to hold the DVD in place in a sleeve, it's just for decoration

Without further ado, here they are:

Games:

WireTap Studio:

Snapz Pro X:

iToner:

We spent a bunch of time getting these ready for the show... just figured I'd share in case anyone was interested in a little "behind the curtains" peek. smile.gif

That looks fabulous. My only question is the following: why a DVD with so little on it? It's the "space optimisation" maniac in me who squirms when seeing that things like iToner go alone on a DVD, when the DVD could be packed with extras ("Other Products", with all the rest of Ambrosia's catalogue on it).
andrew
Here's what the WireTap Studio "I'd Tap That!" pins look like:

These are being made out of high-quality enamel, and look really spiffy in person. The waveform that appears black in the above picture is actually polished meta (as is the border), so it looks nice and shiny. smile.gif

Here's a picture I took of a real version of the pins... I'll take a better one later, they look really sharp in person:

...and here are the WireTap Studio "I'd Tap That!" t-shirts (available in various sizes):

Come get some! smile.gif

We have all of our products on each DVD. In fact, the contents of each DVD are the same... we're just using the packaging as a sort of "hand out" that can't get lost in the shuffle.

So in fact, there's a LOT on each DVD... everything current that we make, actually.
JacaByte
The contents of the DVDs are all the same, aye? So couldn't a customer with one of these handouts give three of the DVDs to their friends and put Ambrosia SW on a road towards world domination?

I like it. smile.gif

How did you know our plans????
JacaByte
Well, considering that you've been aiming towards world domination for years now and no customer would ever need four identical disks, I came to the conclusion that this was the beginning of another plot to take over the world. I see I was correct... ph34r.gif

That looks awesome.

Huh, nifty marketing.
mrxak
Those look really amazing. I wish I was going so I could collect them all. I hope to see pictures of the actual hand-outs after the show.
mWalk
A handout that has whatever information you want on it in certain folds but opening it up completely and it has a poster on the inside of your newly designed logo...would be nifty too.
Marketing
And that's not all... the world domination plan Ambrosia Marketing Machine™ is in full effect!

We'll be announcing even more details next week regarding giveaways and other cool things we're doing at our booth. We have some really exciting things going on in celebration of Ambrosia's 15th anniversary, so stay tuned.

Here's a sneak peek of another giveaway we're doing (thanks IGT!):

Wait, so each customer picks up 4 DVDs when they only need one? That sounds like a waste tongue.gif

That IGT shirt does look pretty cool smile.gif

While there are 4 different designs of packaging/DVD's, each DVD has the same exact content, which is all of Ambrosia's current software (along with some goodies and extras).

Each customer doesn't get all 4, they'll get the design/product they're most interested in. However, if some one wanted to "collect the whole set", we're open to bribes and payoffs. wink.gif
Guy
Oh, so they're only allowed one (normally)? That's fine then wink.gif. I was imagining they'd all just be sitting around for people to pick up as they please.

I might in the spring sometime. I'm looking for an easy and cheap way of going from New York City to Rochester. If I find one, expect me to show up. I'd love to get another ASW shirt. The one I have now is awesome, and a hit at parties (I kid you not).

So, on the IGT page, it says 15 shirts an hour to be given away...how about some of those for us rabid, er, loyal, fans who can't make it to Macworld?? wink.gif I'm not picky...any shirt is fine with me...although the Lightning shirt and WireTap shirts are both very cool. My VERY old grey Ambrosia shirt is hole-y and nearly threadbare now!!! It needs a replacement smile.gif
Enjoyed you and Andrew on the MacHeist reveal party tonight. Very pleased to see Snapz Pro in the bundle. That's awesome!!! Thanks smile.gif

Thanks for the kind words, and for being a rabid, er loyal, fan!

While the physical (t-shirt, DVD, pin) giveaways are for people visiting us at Macworld, we will be doing a something for those that can't make it to San Francisco. The information will be released on January 15, 2008, the first day of Macworld Expo, so be sure to check our Newswire (but since you're a loyal fan, you already subscribe to the RSS feed.) You do subscribe to the feed, right? biggrin.gif

PS: We will likely be selling the shirts we are bringing to Macworld on our store after the show is over and the smoke clears, so stay tuned for that, too.

PPS: If you want/need a shirt now, we do sell them in our store, and the current design will be phased out since we're almost out of stock, so grab one while you can!

Well, here I am, in San Francisco, hanging out with the Ambrosia Crew™. As I live nearby, I was lucky enough to be invited to help out in the booth be Ambrosia's bitch for the show. Yesterday, Michael Simmons and I snuck into the exhibition area to look at the Ambrosia booth, and I must say: it looks spiffy! (I will try to sneak some pictures out of the bunker at some point) We will be spending much of tomorrow evening finishing up the booth setup, in time for the Macworld Expo on Tuesday. Oh, and the t-shirts are also really nice -- the designs posted above don't really give you the entire effect.

I tried to get a friend near SanFran to swing by the Expo and get me a shirt, but he's being jerk-y and wouldn't do it. Any chance of these shirts going on sale after the expo? (assuming there are any left....) I've got to have a medical procedure called a lumbar puncture (which is called a spinal tap in layman's terms) in two weeks, so to try to bring a bit of levity to the situation, I was going to wear that shirt to the hospital -- since they're going to "tap" me smile.gif What can I say, I have a quirky sense of humor! But the procedure sucks, so anything to help relax both the "tapper" and "tappee" is helpful!!
BTW, I downloaded Snapz Pro X today that I picked up in the MacHeist bundle...love it!! I used the old Snapz program years ago...I'm excited about the video capture.
Anyway, enjoy Macworld. Just wanted to check about info on the shirts. Thanks.

The word you are looking for is SF. Call is San Fran to anyone who liver here, and you are likely to be fed your own liver.

That is fscking brilliant. I will try to convince MA to send one out to you. If he can't be convinced, I will grab one and mail it myself. What size t-shirt do you wear?

Sorry about that....in the South where I am, folks refer to SF as SanFran with affection. It also comes out to be about 4 syllables! tongue.gif
You're very sweet, I appreciate that. XL on the size.

Spyker....not quite so lucky...you did see the reason for it, right? I'd gladly trade the shirt back to not have to go thru the procedure. But at least having a cool and irreverent shirt with attitude will make it a little more tolerable!! lol The Ambrosia guys are the greatest!!

Well ya... not very lucky on that part, but it would be cool to wear it to the procedure!
