Hi all!

I recently rediscovered the old classic that was Power Pete (now Mighty Mike, obviousely), and after extenuous research I was directed to this forum!

I was just wondering if anyone had any insights as far as being able to run this old classic on an Intel Macbook running Leopard? I have the game extracted onto my system, but all I get is the gray not-compatible slash if I try to run it natively.

I have heard talk (well, read,) of it working via emulation? Rosetta doesn't help at all in this situation, as far as I can tell.

Simply put, is there a way of emulating the game on intel macs at all?

I still have all my old MacAlly and Ambrosia classics from the 90s, and it breaks my heart to see that OS X cannot run them anymore.. And my old Powerbook Duo that I used to run them all on does not want to boot up anymore. sad.gif

Thanks everyone for any input you might have

The only way I know of would be to run something like SheepShaver. Otherwise you're outta luck.

Yeah, I wouldn't know, because I have to run it on my OS 8.6 Mac, but that game was awesome. It really made me mad that you had to win on the hardest difficulty level to get to the last levels. Oh, welcome to the forums!

Sheepsaver should work pretty well for you. It's not the simplest to set up, but i fyou have a working OS 9 folder, and designate a folder for the OS 9 files, it's not mind bendingy hard to setup either. I use it for an old hypercard stack, and once you set it up it works pretty seamlessly.

I just tried this game (for the first time ever) on OS 8.6 running in SheepShaver on a 2.2 Ghz MacBook Pro. It runs passably, if not perfectly. the game and sound stutters occasionally, and some things flicker (not sure if that was present in the original), but it's definitely playable.

If you need help getting SheepShaver set up let me know. There are pretty good instructions out there; the hardest part is locating a workable OS disc. IME you need a physical system CD in order for SheepShaver to recognize it and use it for installation.

Also, if you have no ability to run Classic then it might be a challenge finding a workable ROM, since the easiest way involves using a Classic application to extract one from a ROM updater distributed by Apple. If you are unable to extract one yourself then I would be willing to email you a workable ROM file.
