ROCHESTER, New York -- February 25, 2008 -- In a surprise turn of events, it seems that the Ambrosia Software mascot, Hector D. Byrd has left the Ambrosia office for a career in crime. This has left the Mac community stunned. The African Grey Parrot and an unknown number of cohorts were the masterminds behind the shocking news of the stolen Macworld Eddy and the ransom demands that followed. The Bird and her Flock of evildoers struck at one of the most venerable Mac software companies, Alsoft, creators of such products as DiskWarrior. The company had recently been awarded the 2007 Macworld Editors Choice Award for DiskWarrior 4.

The initial photo which (might be a snap shot from a possible video) had been under analysis from the authorities, and now been leaked to the press from unknown sources:

Compared to other images from the FBI files it was confirmed that this is indeed Hector D. Byrd.

Hector and possibly the cohorts (uncomfirmed):

Ambrosia Software wishes to offer our apologies to Alsoft for our mascot going rogue and taking such a shocking turn to the corrupt world of crime. Andrew Welch, el Presidente of Ambrosia Software, has made a statement to the press saying that while he is upset, he's is not shocked at the news. "That bird always was crazy, I mean, just look at those beady little eyes, and the way she used to laugh in that maniacal tone. It really was something we should have seen coming." The statement was then followed up with a tale of heroism as Welch also told of how Hector attempted to steal yet another trophy from the very office that was her home.

Ambrosia Software had also won a Macworld Editors Choice award for their innovative audio capturing and editing software, WireTap Studio, and this was another apparent target for the bird. It seems that late in the night, while their newly appointed IT Guru, Jake Cebula, was tending to the servers, the bird swooped in and attempted to steal the trophy. Welch adds, "If it wasn't for Jake's quick thinking and devastating prowess in wielding Ethernet cables, we surely would have lost our Eddy to these monsters, as well."

The FBI and other leading criminal investigators feel that Hector is targeting companies that have been extremely beneficial in the Mac community and the 15th year anniversary of Ambrosia Software might have been the catalyst for these strange events.

Acting as the ring leader, Hector D. Byrd had already offered the ransom note and a list of demands to Alsoft as of last week. The list can be seen here:

http://www.KidnappedEddy.com

Alsoft has taken the approach to not agree to the kidnappers demands and have yet to make contact with Hector D. Byrd in hopes that they will not follow through with their threats.

Perhaps in an unheard of act of Heroism (or perhaps they have seen far to many episodes of "24") Ambrosia Software has vowed to take the fight to these masked bandits and has declared that they will search out their rogue Mascot and find the trophy. Their hope is to clear the Ambrosia name and return the trophy unharmed.

"The Mac Community must stick together," said John Champlin, PR Guru and primary bird handler for Ambrosia Software. "We will do what we can, and use any resource at our fingertips to get the trophy back to Alsoft and capture Hector D. Byrd."

Sadly no... You are new to the forums. So your lack of understanding at how evil Hector D. Byrd truly is shall be forgiven. Ask anyone on the boards, and they will let you know.

(go to BnB and just ask them about Captain Hector, and you will find that she has made far more enemies than friends over the years)

This was bound to happen. Fly fast Hector!!!!

I knew it! And said as much in the other topic. </smug>

She's a klepto, that bird. *hides her 4H trophies*
Two Jacks
I blame the schools.
Buffalo the Kid
I think she got overconfident with her stealing abilities when she made so many million-dollar thefts in unregistered copies of Override.

See! I knew it! Hector probably pooped on it!

Fly Hector, fly! Never surrender!

Magnus, you've had her whole life to kill her. Or put her in a cage smaller than she is. I indirectly blame you.

their rouge Mascot

Grey body. Orange tail. Beady eyes. Something doesn't add up.

Something smells of deceit. Of lies. Of cake. Of willful disingenuousness. Of secretly aiding and abetting Hector while absolutely not having made a typographical error.

Edit: I especially like the ransom note site you made.

Hector doing less-than-legal things? Really, I'm not surprised. Does anyone remember the Hector Case (back when the Ambrosia staff thought she was a he)?

Ah well, Hector's mug-shot needs to be updated anyway.

hmm, it's hard to tell from the photographs, but it appears that two of those Kalashnikovs have their original pistol-grips (and therefore trigger mechanisms) which would render them more than slightly illegal. and yeah, someone in that picture i would not care to go shooting with over his sloppy trigger finger...

Tol'ja so.

No, Sponge is not a noob. But he refuses to not act like one. So we're not forgiving him, and this shall weigh forever on his soul. End of story.

Dude, Hector is in league with Dogbert! I'm part of the DNRC, and we need a HNRC!
