In 2 1/2 hours! w00t! I <3 Pi Day! Unfortunately I will not be sporting a Pi shirt, because of my brokenness.. however - you can count on it next year!
(Unless someone wants to get me one for my birthday?)
It's also Einstein's birthday. He was a pretty cool dude.
And yeah -- Geometry was painful.. effing triangles! I could do it now! I help my sister with it all the time, but back then? Nooo! I think it's because that's where me and Veccy met. We terrorized boys, made fun of the teacher, and put off homework as long as possible. Good times.
Soh-Cah-Toa anyone?

I used to have a shirt that read "Got milk, need <pi symbol>." People thought it was a symbol that represented pot. It's hard to explain mathematical concepts to idiots.

Gah I ######ing hate geometry. Effing triangles is right, and transversals, kites, rhombuses, and all the others too!
Still I do love me some pi.

Just to tick off the geometry teacher, I found a way to not use graphing paper and still get the right answers using algebra entirely. I think that was in December. I haven't used a single scrap of graphing paper since then. Hehehe...
Gets boring after a while, though. Sometimes I wonder when he'll realize that a kid who dreams up entirely new number systems deserves to be in a class higher up, perhaps Algebra 2?

A while back, I dreamt up a system of mathematics that used three dimensional polygons to represent huge, enormous numbers. The level of complexity required to do that was staggering, how my brain could even grasp it in my sleep is beyond me.
Sorry about that, I was a little vague...

Yeah, probability/statistics is by far the most enjoyable math course I've taken. Statistics is a field I've considered entering.

Perhaps I would have enjoyed Stats if I had had a less miserable teacher. Sorry fellas.

As for Pi Day, I memorized 25 digits of Pi. I think I knew more last year, but I'm happy enough with 25.

It was also my Board Birthday. I'm quite proud of it.
You know.. Stats isn't bad. I'm taking Stats for Psychology, and if it weren't for an insufferably daft and dull teacher, it'd be somewhat interesting.

When I got my wisdom teeth taken out they gave me laughing gas before they put me under.
I actually laughed.
I guess its not supposed to do that...but they had to strap down my arms so that in my flailing laughter I didn't rip out my IV.
Damn that was good stuff. I want surgery again just to have it...mmmm...tastes like bubble gum.
-Veccy...loving the laughing gas.

A couple friends of mine live in the same apartment complex as a nos addict. Whenever he picks up a new tank, he runs home, fires it up, and then starts removing his clothes (evidently the more you use the hotter you feel). He usually passes out completely naked on his couch. How do I know? In his hurry to fire it up, he rarely remembers to shut his front door behind him. My friends usually raid his place for laundry detergent while he's passed out.

Incidentally, I'd just like to put out there that π is a pretty overrated number. e has far more practical applications.

I know what e is, just not what it's useful for. I've figured out ways to use pi to calculate almost everything, from the area of a circle to the volume of a cylinder.

Well, my argument is that perfect circles don't really exist. On the other hand, just about everything that grows exponentially is going to compound constantly, with the exception of man-made things like money.

You poor, poor girl. I don't even know how you joke about this. And you're taking it in the summer, making it all only worse.
Actually, I was able to make some sense of it in high school. Best of luck to you though. This stuff is not much fun. Thankfully I never have to take it.

Pi and e have one weakness.e is actually useful in calc for certain limits, derivatives, and other stuff. It's fun stuff.

Thanks - But the reason I'm taking it this summer is to avert myself from a horrible teacher. (I've heard bad things..) Plus- don't you think that taking it every day for 1hr 15. as opposed to three times a week for 50 min would pound it in better?
