We are starting a Smash Bros. Brawl (SSBB hereafter) league. Post your Brawl friend code, your time zone, and what times you can play.

I want to get a game going where everyone has to play as a character that was in Smash Bros. Classic.

Play time: ? It's chaotic, at best. Just because I write the schedule at work doesn't mean that I'm always able to be off at specific times, heh. Still, I've gotten Twilight Princess out of the way, which catches me up on everything except the few VC games I bought, which means that the SSBB disc will be staying in, and I'll be checking in online when available.

If someone can walk me through the set up process (mine is in Japanese), I'd be happy to join you guys for an online game or two.

Once you have Brawl up to the first menu...

1. Choose the bottom left option to go to Wifi
2. Choose the left option, which is yes. It is asking if you want to connect to Wifi
3. Choose the top left option, this is "With Friends". The top right is "With Anyone"
4. You now have four choices. The important ones are Brawl (top left) and friend roster (top right). Select Friend Roster.
5. You should see a code around the top of the screen. That's your Brawl code, write it down.
6. Above (or is it below?) that code is the option to add friends. You'll be prompted to put in their code and a name.
7. Now, the very top option, you can set your name and four taunts. Though since these are in Japanese, I doubt any of us will understand them.

Once you have codes in, if anyone is online, you'll see them in Brawl or in your friend roster. You'll be able to host games (top option) or join their games by selecting them and selecting the top option that appears.

Real quick for With Anyone: top left is spectate, top right is Basic Brawl, and bottom is Team Brawl.

This should be accurate, assuming the Japanese menu layout is the same. I wasn't able to get onto Wifi from my dorm to double check though, so if any of my instructions are off, someone correct them.

I just added all of you and i should note that my roomate Elliot uses the wii too(it is in fact his) but i may add another for mine later.

Alright, I've gone through and added everyone. While I've been able to spectate a few games, I've never been able to join (or had anyone join) my own brawls. :|

I just finished my first few online battles. Won a few, (spectacularly) lost a few. I came across someone who was really good with Ike, and far too many people who thought they were (seriously, I wasn't in any games where one person wasn't either Marth or Ike). Beyond the lag being bad in a couple games, it was still a lot of fun. It just stresses how much I need to find local people to play with. Ah well, hopefully I'll be able to catch some of you others around soon.

Yeah, there's a bunch of move spammers who use Ike and seem to think they're good because they randomly get KOs in a FFA. I've found that getting to 1v1 them, which is unfortunately a rare occurrence, usually if their demise.

Honestly, though, I'm fairly disappointed with the online offerings so far. The options are just way too limited. I hope that, if the Wii online stuff really starts to take off, they'll either release a more online-centric version of brawl, or concentrate on getting Smash Bros. next incarnation built around online multiplayer modes. The addition of some kind of lobby and being able to limit the # of players in a game are the two biggest things I'd want at the moment, followed somewhere by an online chat system. (perhaps allow phones with bluetooth to act as special remotes for the wii, allowing use of their keypads for chatting?)

Of course, in the end, I understand that the online offerings were added at the end (or at least seemingly so...I don't really know how the dev. cycle played out), while the main game itself was always designed around single console experiences with friends in the same room as yourself. With this latter point, SSBB excels.

If they had a 1v1 mode with anyone, I'd be happy. Though with friends you can change the game modes and restrict the player count.

I am now home for the summer. I'm presently attempting to get employed. And, until I do, my time availability is basically "whenever".

No I saved others too. I hate New Pork as well. It's just too big. That first match where you had Zero Suit Samus and I had Samus was fun. As were all the matches I won.
