I've never had a particular problem with the sound quality of Wiretap, BUT I was recording for my own pleasure, and my standards and preferences are not the same as everyone's. Anyway, when I recently prepared a CD for a friend by using WireTap and iTunes, I realized that I would have to do better. For that reason, I have spent all day today trying to get a sound that would satisfy everyone. I finally succeeded, but I made so many changes that I'm not sure what is important and what is not. However, for the purpose of this posting, I only want to confine myself to interpreting the WireTap Studio tool that appears on the computer desktop. More specifically, I'm not sure what the two horizontal adjustable bars are for and how to use them. The first entry in the top one is "Mac Audio." After that, there is ""Finder.app, Firefox.app, Help Viewer.app, etc. The second control starts out with "None," then "Mac Audio," under which are "Finder.app, FireFox.app, Help Viewer.app, etc."
I have no idea how or when these various titles are supposed to be used. I have a MacBook, and I have been downloading RealPlayer songs while using FireFox, converting them to the MP3 format and then filing them in my iTunes music library. Taking all of this into consideration, I tried most of the titles to see what would work best and finally settled on "FireFox.app." for the top horizontal bar, and "MacAudio" for the bottom horizontal bar.
Frankly, I don't know if I did the right thing, but I didn't want to spend even more hours testing all of the other titles. Instead of "FireFox" I suppose I could have selected "RealPlayer" or "iTunes," but I just don't know. Also, instead of "Mac Audio" I probably could have used "iTunes" or something else. I just don't know. I don't know what you're supposed to select. Can someone enlighten me?
