ROCHESTER, New York -- July 9, 2008 -- Ambrosia Software, Inc. today announced the release of iToner 1.0.8. This update of the highly popular iPhone custom ringtone transfer tool offers support for iTunes 7.7 and iPhone OS 2.0, along with Japanese localization.

Exempt from per-ringtone fees, iToner lets you easily transfer your own MP3, AAC, WAVE, and AIFF audio files to your iPhone, and enjoy them as custom ringtones.

Three free ringtones are included with iToner, recorded from an instrument called the mbira. With a very distinct and pleasing sound, all three are very unique ringtones for your iPhone.

The iToner 1.0.8 update is free for all registered users, and may be downloaded here:

iToner 1.0.8 features the following fixes and improvements:

-- Fixes for iTunes 7.7 and iPhone OS 2.0 compatibility

-- Japanese localization

With iToner, simply drag and drop your favorite audio files onto the elegant and familiar interface, and click the Sync button. Your custom ringtones are instantly accessible from your iPhone!

Your iPhone allows you to assign different ringtones for your different contacts. With iToner, now you can have a Barry White ringtone for when your girlfriend calls, Frank Zappa for when your college buddies ring you up, or the theme from Jaws for when your boss is calling.

Download your free trial of iToner now, and give it a whirl:

Thanks for the fast work! I'm just about to test it out!

I hadn't downloaded 1.0.8 yet and I updated my iPhone.
The custom ringtones quit working on the iPhone.

I opened iToner and it downloaded and installed 1.0.8.
(I like the way this worked automatically, only stopping to get my OK.)
I reinstalled my custom ringtones and tested one.

The one I tested didn't work at first so I edited the contact.
I found it remembered my custom ringtone but I selected it again anyway.
After that it worked perfectly. smile.gif

Since I knew Apple had a habit of disabling custom ringtones I already had a group called "iToners" in my address book. This lets me go to each contact which has a custom ringtone and check the ringtone. I keep the name of each contact's ringtone in the Note field in case I have to reinstall it.

This was the fastest update yet.

Thanks.

Well, I've been having trouble with the 1.0.8 keeping my ringtones in the phone. Every other sync or so with the phone in iTunes, my ringtones disappear. When I launch iToner, it no longer shows any ringtones being listed. I'll re-add them and they'll remain for the next sync or two and then they'll vanish again.
I'm using iToner 1.0.8 (Trial Period), iTunes 7.7, and Mac OSX 10.4.11
[EDIT] and no, I am not using MobileMe; nor am I managing any other ringtones from iTunes itself. Any custom tones set on the iPhone will return once I resync from iToner.
I have reason to believe it removes the ringtones from the iPhone every time it does a "backup" during sync in iTunes.[/EDIT]

I've responded to your other post...

Same problem here: itunes 7.7, OS 10.5.4, itoner 1.0.8 (trial). Too much work to have to reload ringtones every time they disappear without warning.

Hello wade,
Are you able to replicate the problem or pinpoint when the ringtones disappear? So far we can not replicate the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

I'll keep an eye on it. Typically, I'll notice the phone ringing with a standard ringtone, and then I figure out that the custom ringtones have once again disappeared.

I'll just need to check after every itunes sync, because that's my No. 1 suspect.

The ringtones disappeared again.

Best I can tell, after I deleted a video on my iphone via itunes, the ringtones were no longer there.

Are you managing your videos manually? Or did you make a change in the Video tab? I've tried both dozens of times and I can't get it to fail yet.
