Has anyone here played MDK? Personally, I think it's one of the best games I've played, and that it still makes MDK 2 look like crap.
To make this perfectly clear, MDK has been to me what Marathon is to many of you.
Right now, I'm working on beating it for the ???th time, completing 1 level a day.

I've played MDK. It was pretty fun, but not exactly life-changing. No comparison to Marathon.

I have memories of it, but I can't for the life of me find it anywhere.

It came with my family's original Bondi Blue iMac...but the CD was corrupted! D:
I played MDK 2 on the Dreamcast though, game is damn tough, never beat it.
But you say the original's that much better?

Ohmigawd I loved MDK. I could beat the first level without getting hurt. But I never beat the game, that last bit's just too hard. Plus the game's over 10 years old now.

Hadn't heard of it, so I googled it. Looked like any other 3rd person shooter. What made it so good?

MDK != Marathon. You can't really compare a first person shooter to a third person shooter. They're two different styles of game.

He never said they were the same...he just said that his feelings towards MDK are comparable to the feelings most people here feel about Marathon.

Sure you can. It's just a slight change in perspective, not some kind of genre-defining schism in gameplay styles. Actually, there's often more difference between two FPS games than between an FPS game and a 3PS game, and that's without taking into account the fact that you frequently use both perspectives for different maneuvers within the same game.
In the case of Marathon vs. MDK, the camera is neither the only difference, nor even the most important one, not by a long shot.

I say the original is better because the second has way too many cartoon elements that stripped most of the seriousness from the game. They also didn't do a very good job of getting the other characters into the story. They didn't even look the same.

You could beat the first level without getting hurt (which I've never done), but couldn't even make it through the 6th (which I've done many times)?
I'm confused...what exactly did you get stuck on?

MDK kicked ass. I played both, as Infinity AND MDK came with my first iMac. I agree, the first MDK was miles better than the second

Rumor has it, not that I'd know and I'm certainly not condoning it, but a certain site that shares its name with a canine superhero from the 1960s (who recently had a probably-s###ty movie made) might possibly have it.

Uh huh. If you're so careful not to condone it, why are you even posting it?
Oh yeah, he blocked me...
Could someone else ask him that question?

Sponge Tom, what system are you running the game on?
Here's what I found through all my work:
http://abandonia.com/en/games/346 <-- The game download, needs the emulator DOSbox to work though.
http://www.dosbox.com/download.php?main=1 <-- Download for DOSbox
I just can't seem to figure out how to make it run MDK (Murder Death Kill). Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, and I hope these links help as well.

MDK was a tight game. I only ever got to play the demo, but I loved the odd sense of humor.

Sadly, only the windows version of the site has it though.

Windows...and DOS. It runs under DosBox fine.
Well, no. It runs under
Boxer fine, which uses DosBox but may do other things as well, not really sure.

Subtle?Damnit, now it's having problems. It can't open MDKFONT.FTI properly.

Try going into mdk.cfg and change the cddata and hddata to the directory the game's in.
