I've encountered a problem with iSeek for which I haven't found a solution. When I do a search using iSeek => Google, my Safari browser opens to my home page which features a Google search screen, rather than to the list of search results. So I end up re-entering my search criteria and then I get the list. Is there a way in which I can configure iSeek to go directly to the search results without the intermediate stop on my home page? Thanks.

Hello,
Is it possible you are logged into Google and have changed some preferences? Is there anything different about this other Google page that shows up? I can't replicate the problem so far. Everything I do goes direct to the search results as expected.

Thanks for trying to help. I do use Google Desktop which launches automatically at startup (I much prefer it to Spotlight) and I also use Google Notifier which resides on my menu bar and also launches automatically.

I would suggest disabling them temporarily to see if it resolves your issue.

Google Desktop was causing the conflict. Nuts! I'm going to have to make a decision now because I use GD at least as often as I use iSeek. sad.gif

I'll try to load up Google Desktop on an isolated system and see what dirty injection hacks its doing in its InputManager plugin that is impacting iSeek.

The only way i can seem to replicate the behavior you describe is by clicking on the G icon in iSeek. typing my search in iSeek and hitting return brings up the expected results page in Safari.

Hmmm, nope, that isn't quite the same. When I type in a query on iSeek's G (for Google) and hit return, Safari opens all right, but I don't see a results page (which would be expected.) I see Home. Did you have Google Notifier and Google Desktop both active? Those were the variables which might explain the abnormal behavior. BTW, the same thing happens even if FireFox is configured to be my browser.

I corrected the problem myself. Under iSeek => Preferences => Google => Preferences URL, I changed "iseek://url/?=&name=Google&category=General&encoding=4&scheme=http&url=google.google.com/search?q=" to "iseek://url/?=&name=Google&category=General&encoding=4&scheme=http&url=www.google.com/search?q=" and now everything works fine. I have both Google Notifier and Google Desktop active, and now when I enter an item in iSeek's G (for Google) and hit return, Safari opens with the list of results. Somehow or other I must have corrupted the Google URL search string when I customized iSeek a few weeks ago. blush.gif
