Oh, is this yet another generic fantasy MMO? That's really great! I didn't think we had enough of those.

And actual roleplaying in a role-playing game? Amazing! It's like a MUD, but you get to put on these really cool wizard outfits! I could totally go for a robe and a hat.
Crystal Space is also one of the best open source engines out there. There are also tons of other really well-done games out there that use Crystal Space.
Open source MMOs are just so exciting, I thought I'd fill you all in on the good work our comrades are doing in the open source camps. Okay team, let's MMObilize!

Peragro Tempus is a unique MMORPG developed by a dedicated group of contributors. It features a rich story coupled with exciting gameplay for a truly immersive experience. It is set in a lavish world with dark forests, flourishing wildlife, flowing rivers, and rolling hills. It is a world ripe for exploration. Not only can you travel to the next inn; you can travel to the next millenium. You have three worlds to explore, each with its own culture, species and technology. Time changes things. Travel forward and what you might find is a castle turned to ruins, or a new island where there was only ocean before. Don't let the shifting desert sands lose you, this is only the beginning.
I know some of the people on that project. Great guys. Their channel on Freenode is one of the most open and welcoming I've seen in ages. I remember one time they even gave everyone voice! They kinda forgot about me, but they probably didn't see me there or something.

The Seventh Game: Precursors is a rather ambitious MMORPG. It's goal is to be a story-based MMO that focuses on you, the player. The background you create for your character and the actions you take in game combine to create a 'story' that can only be experienced first-hand. We provide the universe of Precursors as the backdrop for you to live whatever your imagination can invent. Precursors is an immersive RPG environment that will leave you on the edge of you seat, unwilling to log off because you want to know what happens next. The fate of the Precursors Universe is in your hands... what story will you tell?
Gee, that sounds really exciting! Too bad I can't visit their site to learn more... The link is dead. Maybe they've been too busy making so much progress, they forgot to check on the page. I'm sure they'll have it up in time for the next release.

Stendhal is a massively multiplayer online role playing game written in Java. In this game, you can buy sheep, raise them, and then sell them. But thats not all you can do. There are many creatures being added in stendhal such as the balrog. There are also many quests and NPCs that give them.
Now that's my idea of fun-- raising sheep and defending the herd from the towering balrog! Stendhal is a game deserving of some sheep that should be told they shall not pass.

Crossfire is an open source, cooperative multiplayer graphical RPG and adventure game. Since its initial release, Crossfire has grown to encompass over 150 monsters, about 3000 maps to explore, an elaborate magic system, 13 races, 15 character classes, a system of skills, and many artifacts and treasures. Crossfire is based in a medieval fantasy world and is similar to other games of this genre.
I love the name-- it reminds me of another really successful game back in the 90s. I can appreciate how much effort it must have taken to hand-craft 3000 different maps; some games in that genre can make all the maps they'll ever need, but sometimes you just really feel like playing the same map over and over. Think of it like Unreal Tournament, but for RPGs! Sounds like an awesome game I could really get... caught up in!
Boy oh boy, I just can't wait to get my hands on some of these awesome games. The best part is that they're open source, so I can just make it better if I don't like it! Everyone and my mother agree-- MMOs are the way to go.
