Finally a league I can join. Too bad I don't know how enough about the multiplayer function works to get a game going.

for multi-player to work you need a direct internet connection not wireless.

Why not wireless?

It has something to do with one computer not being able to find the other one because of the wireless.
if I host any games on gameranger for AOE II they will have [ASW] somewhere in the title.

Get II, it's a good deal better and can probably be found for $5 somewhere because it's almost 9 years old.

the reason wireless doesnt work is your router makes a private IP address for you computer.
ok that may not be clear say your IP address is 76.94.56.13 and you have wireless your computer has a personal IP address of something like 1.5.3.8 and if you try to contact the proper IP address your router won't know which computer to send the data to.

Of doom, I'd hate to say it but you don't know what you're talking about.
The router makes a private address for all of the computers behind the router; that's the purpose of the router in the first place. The router's purpose is to act as a traffic conducter that sends each packet onto it's proper path. When you/your parents got a wireless router, you most likely turned off port forwarding or you turned something else on that is stopping you from playing. (Or your internet provider did something)
td;lr wireless routers use regular ip addresses
