Hi,

I am trying WireTap Anywhere in this schematic:

I want to "bridge" Skype and a SIP client called X-Lite. I have this working by simply creating a virtual source from each and cross patching them. In fact this works fine. The problem comes when I want to do something else at the same time on the same Mac Mini.

The built-in audio output jack goes out to a mixer going to another computer which is sending that output out on the Internet. As that input is then received on the X-Lite client, it goes out the audio output to the mixer, creating an echo. How ca, I stop a WireTapped device from going out the built in audio output jack?

I think I've solved this now by simply plugging in a USB headset and sending output from X-Lite there. However, is there a "cleaner" solution?

My question is, is there some way that WTA deals with the output of programs it is tapping? For example, is there some setup that would allow me using only the software, to route X-Lite to Skype, Skype to X-Lite and ONLY Quicktime or some other music source to the audio output of the Mac?

I saw another poster talk about Logic and there was a check box concerning software mute. I don't have that box, but would that do what I am trying to accomplish?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,
The ability to mute the software sources per device will be in the soon to be released 1.0.2 update.

WireTap Anywhere has no control over output. It creates virtual input devices that can be chosen in another application. If you need to deal with any output issues, it would be done in the application itself (i.e. Skype's audio preferences).

The Logic example you're referring to is slightly different as Logic is playing back their work, and again in the application they are recording into. Hope this helps smile.gif

I do appreciate you posting something so soon. I had the same pleasant surprise with WTS.

I understand. The only problem is, the option "none" is not allowed for an output choice in X-Lite. I think it might be a nice companion to the high end WTA to have a driver for a dummy output device. Imagine that this driver were called "WTA virtual output device" or "WVA Virtual". One could send the outputs unwanted in the headphone to a dummy output. That output would be the one followed by my potential inputs in WTA on the left side of the panel, if I've understood how those choices work.

I have no idea whether this is trivial (a driver for a "null device" probably just needs to return "All OK" in most cases, but I am totally ignorant of OS X) or a major scene to deal with. It would make a difference to me, although plugging in an unused headset does about the same thing.

Actually, I haven't looked around, maybe someone has already done this?

Best,

WireTap Anywhere 1.0.2 that was just released today should solve this problem for you. There is a new option to mute the applications that are being captured. So, for your device that is capturing X-Lite, turn on the mute option and when you start capturing X-Lite's audio you will no longer hear X-Lite.

If there are any other features that you would like to see in WireTap Anywhere don't hesitate to let us know. WireTap Anywhere is a young product that will be even better with the help of your feedback.
