In my opinion, one of the best shooters that has a very decent storyline, and some of the best graphics. Discuss...
Long live UNATCO!

Agreed. Deus Ex is the only game like that that combines realism and playability.
My preference is running up to guys from the front with a crowbar in hand, because
as long as it's dark and they don't have TRQ darts you'll get them down.

Deus Ex is an excellent game (though, the graphics could be a
little bit better, or is it just my graphics card?), but

I had to delete it from my hard drive to make room for other stuff (I had like one hundred megs left).
But it is, I'd say, definitely one of the best first person shooters ever. Great plot, good number of levels (not too many, not too few, like Oni, which had 14 levels), good weaponry, nice gameplay interface, good features (like placing grenades on the wall), et cetera.
PS-Down with UNATCO!!! NSF rules!!! (if you've played the game all the way through, you'd know what I'm talking about)

SilverDragon- You like the crowbar, eh?

Have you ever taken a fire exstinguisher and used it against some NSF soldiers?
Lord Gwydion- So you hate UNATCO? Interesting...You're one of the few.

You know, Oedipus, if you want games to keep coming out for your Mac, it is in your best interests not to pirate them.. and I got the impression that you were going to do just that. If I'm wrong, I'm sorry, but if I'm not...

Begemotike is right. I highly disagree with pirating, and not only that, it can get you in trouble...

Deus Ex is a brilliant game. I've had it since the day it came out and have compleated every mission I could find. I have also compleated it on the realistic setting. Took me 6 weeks but I still did it.
Great graphics with the nVidia g-force3 and runs perfectly on my G4 (was a little sluggish on my previous computer, a blue and white G3 350 with a Voodoo 2.)

You must not have played the game all the way through, or understood some of the finer points of the plot. UNATCO is a co conspirator with MJ12, who are the guys you spend half the game avoiding or killing. You must be part of the conspiracy too!!

No, I haven't played the game all the way through. I've only played the first level at my cousin's house. But my older brother explained the entire storyline to me a few days ago, and now I have a totally different opinion about UNATCO. On seconds thought, I'll be rooting for the NSF...

Ultimate Rebel, Deus Ex is a cool game, a unique FPS with character interaction and a good deal of strategy and stealth required.
Here are some Mac gamers descriptions and opinions of it.

Oh, I also forgot to say, I bought the game, but doesn't run well on my beige G3 233 w/ Voodoo2. It's playable, but it's too laggy, so I have put it away until I get a faster mac. And when I do it will be the first game I will play.

I've only played it at the local CompUSA. From what I could tell, Oni is slightly better, but they're both absolutely great.

Nobody mentioned the Multiplayer patch...
If you want you can play Deus Ex Multiplayer online (supported by gameranger) I'm really hooked. You can find the patch on
http://www.macgamefiles.com and gameranger on
http://www.gameranger.com The patch updates your version to 1.0.2 and lets you play LAN/internet games. It really rocks (I've played UT/Quake3/Halflife but this one is the best

)
The game itself is cool from beginning till the end. Very interesting Plot.. and UNATCO are the bad guys believe me. Don't play the game .. but let the game play you

thanks for the info! It does look pretty cool. That one guy was harsh on rating it, a 4, I think that one with good graphics and other stuff should at least get a 7.

Actually, I think it would have been nice to have the option of staying with UNATCO in Deus Ex, at least for a while. I thought the way it forced you to defect was at odds with the fairly non-linear format of the rest of the game.
Ah well. The next thing on the DX2 wish list...

I saw an interview with the creator of Deus Ex on Tech TV a few days ago and he said that the game came with an SDK. I couldn't find the SDK on my cd or on the internet. Maybe it was only bundled with the PC version. Does anyone know more about this?

Yeap, I agree.

For a shooter this was the best. My favorite part was being able to sneak around and do just about anything you wanted to. I shot everyone, UNATCO, NSF, citizens, soldiers, scientists, bums.....my personal favorite, cats, dogs, mice, birds, robots, story characters, pimps, hookers, and oh my God the club was the best LAM,s everywhere. And that bouncer, "No you.. you will pay. I will make you pay." BANG.

I remember the thing I hated the most was pasting a bomb on the wall, (the ones that detect movement before detonating), running off to go take care of some NSF troops, then running back down the hall and exploding the bomb.

You were correct, and right. Your point I have considered many times, and in fact, most all of my games that I have are bought, but Im flat broke right now and have no money, so I resort to this, though since he still hasnt burned it, im going to just save up for a while
