I like this game, and I just got the full version. Anybody else have it? Or at least the demo?

I haven't ever played it, much less heard of it...

I can't get the demo to stop freezing at start up....

I have the demo. I think that it is TOO realistic.

I played the demo -- it switched screen res on me so many times, I gave up on it.

That's why it's so fun! I wouldn't have bought it if it was just another game with drag based physics.

Only problem is, the demo works flawlessly, but I can't get the full version to work!

Guess that's what I get for buying used...

At least the tech suppport is good.

Out of curiosity, is freezing up on startup on a 400 Mhz ruby iMac DV with 192 MB of RAM the symptom of an older version of the demo? I couldn't find the latest version on a site that actually gave me accpetable download speeds so I went to happy puppy which doesn't say what version something is, and I don't know which version I downloaded because the knuckleheads that made it conveniently forgot to support the mac "get info" box.

/me wonders how games like Terminus would like his 576 megs of RAM...

I have and play Terminus. The newtonian physics have a steep learning curve if your used to other flight sims. This game is way cool but never got enough support to be well known. I wish their were mod tools for it. I would have loved to make a B5 conversion mod. Alas without tools supplied by the developers it would take too much effort to make a mod without. You can get patches for the retail version and the demo here. http://www.vvisions.com/terminus/downloads_frame.htm

Holy crap! mac users have to choke down a 15 MB patch while PC and Linux users get less than a megabyte!

Finally, someone else who likes it.

What's your favorite hull? And weaponry?

Oh, shoot. *slaps self* You were talking about the demo patch, weren't you, LoneIgadzra. My bad.

Well, the patch made the game work. Still changes my resolution far too many times, I mean it changes the resolution to do ANYTHING. How's that for effecient programming.

Anyway, my opinion it is highly cool, but it sure ain't Decent Freespace. With the features they give, I find it impossible to do anything I would do in a 2D space game with realistic physics, simply because I can't get a good enough idea of how I'm moving in relation to everything else around me. The movement could stand to be a bit more fluid, said PeeCee only Freespace game has seemingly more realistic turning that's so well worked that you can control it very well with keyboard even.

But anyway, I think Terminus is very cool, just not quite nice and fluid and stuff for my tastes...

Terminus is awesome!! If you don have it, get it. if you have it, play it. If you dont have a computer, why do you care?

You might lose interest in it after a few months, but later, you will jump right back into it!! Its the best EV-like game out there...by far!

my favorite hull is the Hyperion, and my favorite weapon is the PPB (is that a weapon? im letting a friend borrow my copy) i have a really kick ass setup, but i dont have my game right now. Man, i really gotta get that back!

Yea, when I was putting up a review page for this game I was amayzed at the screenshots I was finding. I have been meaning to check it out, I had no idea there was a demo. Thanks for bringing it up and reminding me, I'm off right now to find the demo and try it Hopefully it will run on my system, I have had probs running demos lately with OpenGL errors, but someone recently emailed me more recent Voodoo 2 drivers and that fixed it.

Here is what a few Mac gamers thought of Terminus, feel fre to add your review as well:

You know, I tried Terminus, and I couldn't quite figure it out... I really get annoyed at games that have a complex interface and unclear gameplay. Although I'm sure it would be fun if I could discover how to play it, I'd rather not waste my time doing that.

Oh by the way, if my post gave you different impression, I plan on getting the game along with a joystick (I'd like to get a snazzy USB joystick as opposed to getting an adaptor for my old crappy Mouse Stick II) even though Terminus is the only game I'll use it for...

Yeah, definately get a joystick for Terminus. Terminus is the only game I use it for too, but it is sooo worth it, the game is ver' hard w/o it. I would suggest the Logitech Wingman Extreme, its the one i have, and it fits Terminus perfectly. you need ALOT (emphasys on ALOT) of buttons on your joystick to play, its not really neccessairy, but it helps alot. And if you do get a stick, make sure it has a 'hat" switch, set the throttle to it (Accellerate to forward, decellerate to backward, move sideways to sides).

You REALLY need a joystick for this game. Battle will frustrate the heck out of you if you don't have one. I am using a mousestick II, which works pretty well.

My favorite setup for general use is a 1.1k Rayskate with 2 rupture cannons. For patrol missions, I have a 2.1k Bee; it really stresses itself out when I try anything other than thrusting straight forward, and even then it's in the red! For making money, I use an Eclipse with 6 mining beams. I also have a semi-stealth eclipse; it's undetectable until about 150-55k away, depending on my opponent's sensors; it has an Icarus launcher, a Helium Plasma Cannon, and 4 Neutron Particle Bolts. For assaults, I have a Hyperion with an HPC, two PPB's, and a pair of EPB's. I also have a couple of specialized Jackals for spying and immobilizing, and a Razor that is currently under construction. I still have plenty of time in the game, too, to build up my space force even more. I'm getting off now, as I have to play this game!

I DL the demo, it looks pretty cool (lots of screen resolution changes as noted in this thread . But I have to kinda agree with Obormot about it. It's a little difficult to just pick up and start playing, and those are the kind of games I like most (FPS, 3rd PS, 3D adventure etc). With the RTSs and RPGs, I always try to start playing it and then say "OK, I'll get back to this when I have some time to learn it", then I never end up getting back to it. Mainly because when I game I want fun and action, I do not want to spend time learning how to play it - I get bored easily. But that's just me though, personal preference, like I said I mainly lean towards the easy fun action of FPSs. Perhaps I will get back to Terminus eventually, but with my schedule lately I don't think so. But I can always easily jump into a game of Quake II online - ahhh instant action, the herion of computer use

There is one space action sim supposidly comming to the Mac called Starfleet Command V2 http://games.macnn.com/gamecenter/starflee...and2/game.phtml
I think I might like that one, It looks to be a bit more action oriented.

First of all, I have to say that terminus is an awsome game

Second of all, to all those people who say the physics are too real, you can adjust it. You can make it go all the way down to arcade style physics.

Arcade physics are nice if you want to take a break from reality. But the super-real physics are the best in my opinion, it will seem very tough at first...but you'll get used to it, and you'll like it.
