I'm a mac user. And let's face it; There are great PC games out there that we can't play. HalfLife with all of it's glorious mods is one of them. My friends and I often come together for a link. They have PC, I have mac. They play Counterstrike and Day Of Defeat asd well as normal HalfLife. At school (college) we use PCs. Since we are so close to ending thje year we play games. Guess what is played; HalfLife. And it rules. Sure, it's old now, but it's still good, even so long. What should I do, buy a PC? Man, I hate PCs unless they run Linux or Novell. Any thoughts on mac vs. PC games?

Also, can MacOSX run Linux and/or UNIX software? I heard some folks say they can, and others the opposite. What is true??? If mac OS can run Linux software we might see a game boom for macv soon. I bet Linux will overthroiw windows oh-so-soon.

A discussion of Half Life and Mac gaming can be found in this topic. As for your Linux question, there is a Linux called Linux PPC, I believe, that will obviously run on a Power Mac. I've also heard reports that simple Unix/Linux utilities have been successfully run under Darwin, the core of OS X, but I don't know much else about cross-compatibility, and my total inexperience with Unix makes me unqualified to guess.

Now then, since the topic I mentioned already deals with Half Life/Mac discussion, that leaves your OS X/Unix questions as the sole purpose of this topic. These questions are not specifically related to gaming, and could best be answered on another board, therefore, I am closing this topic, thanks for your time.
