Turn based strategy games anyone? For those who don't know what the abreviations mean, its Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri and Sid Meier's Alien Crossfire. I ordered this extremely awesome game for $15 and can't stop playing. Anyone in here play that game? Civilization gamers welcome also. If you play CTP or CTP2, prepare to defend yourself because those games are pathetic. Anyway, just looking for something to talk about.

Go to Archmage, a completely internet based strategy game. There you can play with or agenst literally thousands of other players, and they even have a spanish server, with the entire game in spanish.

You can always search ebay and other sites like that for a cheap Crossfire CD, I just looked a saw one listed for 8 bucks.
And just a warning if I read how you wanted one wrong: if you ask people here for a free copy, I shall grind you into a fine powder.........

On the subject of Alpha Centauri, I find it feels a little sluggish on my iMac DV+ with 320 MB of RAM. Is there any way to speed it up? It is annoying when each unit movement takes a second or so, especially when you are mobilising a huge army. And yes, I am using the fast piece slide option.

Are you looking for instantaneous movment? just a second or two sounds just fine. I have a lower end iMac than you and it looks like its the same game speed, its just the game.

I run Alpha Centauri on a PC. (I have a mac also but it is old and filled up.) Movement takes a second or two, influenced by the map size of course. I think it is 133mhz, I have no idea how the RAM thing is done in windows. But it is heaven compared to how slow CTP was on my mac. So I'm satisfied. Turn off the animated movement thing if you haven't already to speed it up.

No, I'm not looking for a free copy of Alien Crossfire, but might be interested in buying one. I checked out GameTZ but I think everyone there is out, I'll keep looking. I'll trade my mac CTP copy for a PC Alien Crossfire though... Anyone planning on buying Civilization III when its out?
