Full Version: The new Zelda™ games....

I'm pretty sure alot of people have heard about Nintendo's new Zelda games; Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Zelda: Oracle of Seasons. They're for GameBoy color (even on a GameBoy the games have cool gameplay, but if it were Gamecube quality 3D graphics.....), and they have several differences, but you start out in the games the same way and lots of other apsects of the games are identical.
So, does anyone have one of these? I have Oracle of Ages (the blue one where you get a harp), and I've just beaten the first dungeon. What I find s little ironic is that the oracles, Din and Nayru (yes the oracles are people), are named for the original Din and Nayru, the godesses of Power and Wisdom in Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and each Oracle wears the color of the godesses they're named after (Nayru blue, and Din red). Also, after you beat the game, you can link both games with a GameBoy connection cord whatchamacallit and soppusedly do some cool stuff, and even battle against Ganon and Twinrova.

I have Oracle of Seasons. I'm stuck on the boss of Unicorn's Cave, the fifth dungeon. The little eyeball things always kill me.

Get the Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons player's guide from Prima (it covers both games in one convenient book too!). It helped me alot.

They can be hard, but I beat the N64 Zelda's.

It does take persistance though.

Heh, I beat Link's Awakening and Ocarina of Time. I'm now working on Majora's Mask but just haven't had the time.

Zelda is very cool! I've beaten "Link to the Past" and "Link's Awakening", and I have the first two on my NES emulator. However, the first one is too vague for me to do much, and in the second one I can't find the candle, so I just gave up.

Hmm... Forget about candles - in zelda 1 and 2 I couldn't find either gameplay or graphics. I thought A Link to the Past was the best, but I have yet to play through Ocarina of time as I don't have an N64.

Well, obviously, they're only first generation NES games. You need to look beneath the graphics to find a true batch of classics. I used to spend hours on those two games, but it all ended when an hour into the gameplay my screen started to fill with little glitchy boxes, and then the game froze - it's the old & dirty NES syndrome. Well, the prognosis was inevitably fatal, and now my NES sits in the garage. Thank goodness for emulation!

I just got Zelda: Orcal of Seasons and have noticed some things about it. First off, after playing Zelda™ 1, I noticed the monsters and the dungen boss of dungen 1 to be similar. In fact, the boss was exactly the same! Also, the fact that you can only get 1 pet (supposivly) sucks because now i'm stuck wth the god damn kangaroo. But the idea of just having pets kicks ass. Eather way, the ring idea is the best. I just spend hours trying to get the witch girl to fly into me so I can get more rings. Anyway, this game goes into my list of favorites, only beaten by Perfect Dark™.

I realize that, but after playing Zelda 2 for ten minutes I got really turned of by the seeming flakiness of the whole thing. I've already played number 1, and I enjoyed quite a bit more.

I have Zelda 1 and 2 on both NES and emulator, Link to the Past of my SNES and Ocarina of Time. I agree that Link to the Past was a great game, but you've got to play Ocarina. It is quite simply one of the best games I have ever played, probably the best console game I have ever played, and is one of my three all-time favourites.

The others are Scarab of Ra and Oni. Strange?

Ocarina of Time was pretty good, but it was a little bit too easy if you ask me. Majora's Mask was a good bit harder, since it has alot more to do with solving puzzles instead of beating the **** out of lots of monsters.

I played Oracle of Seasons for a bit (my brother bought it), and I liked it. Zelda games have always been my second favorite games (gotta love them Mario Brothers!), so I am actually considering buying the Oracle of Ages.

the reason there's so many of em is cuz it's one of Nintendo's mainstay titles...wherever there's a nintendo system, there's gonna be a zelda game, for as long as they exist, so it's kinda an either play em, or don't whine kinda situation (and I mean no disrespect in that sentance).
I mean, why stop producing them if they gross a lot of profit when each one is released? But that's just what I think....
