Hrm..I have been thinking about which console I'm gonna get for a long time. I was tempted by the PS2 with it's backwards compatibility (meaning a wealth of good games already) as well as amazing titles such as Midnight Club Racer, Tekken Tag, Warriors of Might and Magic, Quake 3, Unreal Tournament etc etc. It also has internet support, you just have to by a seperate digital modem for it (like you had to for the Dreamcast). Plus, it's got a DVD player. Frankly, apart from the added cost, I don't see why Capt. Editor thinks the DVD is a reason not to get a PS2. I don't have a DVD player, if I got a PS2, I would. It wouldn't be a shoddy one either, sony have a good reputation for their DVD players.
However, when I saw the GameCube I had second thoughts about getting a PS2. Having the GB:Advance as a controller is a great idea (as I'm getting one in about a month), and the modem plus the broadband adapter means some t-a-s-t-y online play. The games aren't all geared towards the under 14's either. I had a look at the preview list at
www.ign.com and with titles like Duke Nukem Forever, Resident Evil Zero, SSX Trickey and a first person Metroid Game, Nintendo have finally realised that adults play games too. Evolution looks amazing as well. Not much is known about it, but I downloaded an in-game movie of it, and it blew me away. The graphics looked like incredibly high quality FMV -- and it was in-game!
I've decided. I'm gonna get a GameCube. Sweet.
