*sigh*
I just got back from my friends house, and we played a rigourous 3 hours or so of Counterstrike on his PeeCee..and dangit, I kinda miss my old Windoze machine just for it's abitlity to play Half-Life, becasue, for those of us that have played it, it's a pretty sweet game..and the add ons you can get (mods, whatever..namely Firearms and Counterstrike) seriously rule....I just wish I could play them at my house, instead of having to make my way over to a buddies everytime I feel the need to blow someone's head off with an MP5 ( ok, I totally mean that in a gaming sense..I'd never do that in real life)
...AND before anyone points out the mods for UT (if anyone was gonna do that), I know about em...and they're just not the same. Neither is Rainbow Six or Rouge Spear (I've beat those many times, and the multiplayer expreience is just not as good as CS)..but, I digress, cuz I'm whining. Anywho, has anyone heard if the development has been discontinued, as I heard that Sierra was doing a port but something happened supposedly..or..I dunno? if anyone knows, I'd love to hear what people have to say

The mac version of Half-Life was indeed cancelled. The excuse given was the same tired refrain about the mac game market not being profitable. You can read about it

-1 for the number of posts? Is this a topic from the future that hasn't happened yet?

Yeah, and the saddest thing, if I remember correctly, is that the Mac programmer who was working on the port (Andrew something) was so frustrated by being jerked around that he gave up Mac development completely and switched to Windows. That ain't good for us.

Andrew Meggs. I think he's lead programmer on Myth III now, so it's not all bad.

Right and he was the lead programmer on Mac Heavy Metal: FAKK2.
It seems that a lot of Mac gamers never got over the Half-Life fiasco. I was only interested in playing the single player version of Half-Life, that is what made it so highly acclaimed. *sigh*

Wait a second, didn't it just say that Sierra might continue the Mac port? Not all hope is lost...or did I read it wrong?

The first mods that came out for HL seriously sucked, it wasn't until Counterstrike came out that things really started to happen and now we have such titles as Action Halflife, Day of Defeat, Team Fortress, Front Line Force and World War III though WW III is still at the beta stage.. The folks at Sierra are planning an expansion for Cstrike which includes missions, new models and a hugher arsenal of weapons.
Halflife will probably never come to the mac so do as I did, buy a PC with Matrox Millenium G400 with dual head so you can use two screens and have the PC stuff displayed on one and mac on the other..
If you're an active Cstrike player who has alot of friends playing on the internet and live in Europe, go to
www.clanbase.com/ and make a clan.. Then search for CronicCrew [C*c] from Norway and have a clanmatch with'em.. We'll kick your asses..

I've seen tribes 2. The graphics are bad, and it's just not a FPS game, but it tries to be. Ugh.
I dont' think valve will ever make another game. they are a 1 hit wonder, and keep capitalizing on HL instead of making Half Life 2. The graphics are getting old, and with the reviews of blue shift I've seen, people are growing tired of it.
