Has anyone here downloaded Matt Burch's Exobattle? What's it like?

Fun, but I've never gotten a chance to do net play. Maybe we can challenge each other one day?

It would be quite a neat game if it had been finished. There is a group at www.exobattle.com working to fully complete Exobattle. However, they're doing it without Matt's blessing, and from what I've seen of it, I can tell why.

Heh, they are cheeky monkeys. I remember Matt saying he had sent them an email to change the name. They must have changed it to "Exo-Battle" from Exobattle.

Indeed. Their page says it was changed "to avoid copyright issues." If they're so concerned about copyright issues, one has to wonder why every spacecraft in their "concept art" section is a bad model of something from Star Trek or Star Wars (the Jem'Hadar fighter with the head of a Romulan Warbird is particularly disturbing). The whole site gives me the impression that it's of a bunch of kids posing as professional game developers.

Great game, really. Even without using the multiplayer, it's a lot of fun to just fly around attacking lots of the drones at once. Net play is damn good too, my dad brings a spare computer home from work during his holidays, and I have multiple network games, and several crossover cables of varying length

Anyway, I recommend that you download it and have a go. It's worth it, really.

Really? I was just about to click the link and check it out, but from the sound, I guess you've saved me from useless bandwith consumption.

Why did Matt stop developing Exobattle? Yes, I know, Nova is really important to him at the moment (and to me!) but does he ever plan to do anything more with it?

Just wondering.....

My god-the intro is 15 MB. Do they assume everyone has a t3? I think we can rule out web page design and common sense from their possible assets.

It's not that great, either .... It's a lot of generic good vs. evil junk scrolling by, then the Enterprise flying over an ocean, then Darth Vader rising from the water. It would have been really funny, if it was a spoof on purpose.

Dr Tall
Exobattle is awesome....though mindless. I can play it for long periods of time without food or drink. I only wish it were finished!

I downloaded the source. I thought about trying to find where the missiles were and giving me a huge number of them.
