I was just wondering... can you as a PC user play D2 on battle.net against Mac users?

If yes, anyone got some good barbarian stuff they'd like to get rid of?
I'm on USWest, character name Rongar (Rogan was already taken ).

I also have a lvl 15 necro on USEast, name's Renzan. (Barb's level is lower, can't remember which level, but he's gaining more XP every day)

I don't have Lord of Destruction yet, still waiting for it to come into the stores (Norway sux... if Max Payne doesn't come out soon, I will suffer from some kind of sickness due to loss of bloodthirst )

Anyways, if someone's got some good barb/necro stuff they'd like to share, just respond here, make a new topic or e-mail me so we can plan a meeting.

I'd offer you some of mine, but i play on open which can't interact with Realm players (I couldn't stand the realm problems early on, and then I built up 3 level 40 chars and decided to stay on open)

You'll like the expansion. Act 5 has the best quests (the Ancients is awsome when you complete it, my level 42 druid gained 6 levels)

They give you that much experience (on Nightmare I presume)? Wow...

Out of curiousity, what's the point of actually playing on open b.net? It's exactly the same as playing single player, except you don't have to deal with all the lag that is the cause of oh-so-many deaths.... sure, you can play with other people, but 99% of them are cheaters, and closed b.net is better for that anyway....

That wouldn't work...You only get EXP once you have killed them all.

There isn't much of a point playing D2 online, except for trading. It's much too laggy, and the extra exp isn't worth it.

He said he was with a group, and he dealt the killing blow to one of them. Maybe it was the last one, I dunno.

And playing online is the only way to go. Also, it's been proven that you get better items and more gems while playing online. Also, when you're in a group of 8, playing something like the cow level can level you like 5 times! whoooo

I know that you level much quicker and get more exp but...it still is too damn laggy!

It would have to be the last one. Each one only gives 1 exp point. When you kill all of them however, i believe it gives you a % of what you already have bonus.

Although I think it was in nightmare as you said, i really don't remember. The shock scared me.

The more people you have partied with you, the bigger bonus you get. An 8 person party in hell/act 5. Owch.

I agree that open is not a good idea (especially with the large assortment of +7 skill small charms that give 6000% to everything you can think of). But my best Realm char is level 2.

I think I'll start a char I don't already have... or something... [/babbling]

Ugh, you are totally right DarkDragon. The Corruption Rift small charm totally sucks. Everywhere I go some dumbass newbie is begging for one from some level 99 barbarian with 6000000 health.

Meh... nowadays, the more I hear about the expansion, the more I like the original game. This leveling 3-5 levels at a time is just pathetic..... the charms are just another imbalance thrown in the game. Long live my regular necro!

I need a play disc, I've got a clvl 19 barb in act 2 that needs some attention, but I have no discs...my plan is to be level 40 by the time I face diablo, a hard task I know, but with some online play I can level quite quickly.

Untrue.

There are level requirements now for EVERYTHING....and the requirements are very steep. Most of the new and good sets and items along with basically all of the old ones require you to be at least level 20 before you can even find them. A soj with a requirement of 29! That's the low part too. New **** like Griswold's set requires at least level 82 and most of the exceptional items require at least level 35-40. Natalya's set requires you to be level 90+ before you can use even one piece of it. Charms, well, they play a pretty pitiful role when it comes to the higher levels (40+). Useless... The corruption rift charm, well, it adds +7 to all skills witch is cool, and adds 100 to magic find, but i've yet to find one in an actual single player game, so I doubt its "real" existence. Probably a hacked item... And about leveling up 5 times is a row...well that's OVEREXAGGERATED... Most I got was 3, and I was at level 20...so I doubt the leveling up from 40 to 45...even in a multiplayer game... Anyways, what's bad about that? Leveling up is good...

I think the xpac enhances many aspects of the game, and makes it pretty darn awesome... New items, new classes, and such. Not to mention a whole new act.

Now Flatty, do you even own or have played the xpac?

I played D2X at my friend's house the other day, and I still feel the same way.

Even if level 5 times was exaggerated, I've never leveled more than once from killing ANYTHING in normal D2.... leveling 3 times at once is just stupid. And no, leveling isn't all that cool when it comes so easily. You should have to work for it.... my friend got a level 38 sorc in THREE DAYS! That's insane. It used to take a month to get to level 38!

The level requirements are in the latest normal D2 patch, so I know all about them... nothing special really.... and if those godly sets have level 80 requirements... well, crap, then you'll only have to put in about 5 day's worth of effort to get up there...

sheeeesh. Long live the original!

Heh... so you've played for a few hours at a firends house and came to the conclusion that the xpac is no good cause your friend is leveling up too much? EVERYTHING else is the SAME... aside from one of act 5's boss battles (the one that levels you up more than once.) Either way, that battle only comes up 3 times (if you're good enough to even reach hell mode.) And at higher levels, like I said, doesn't level you up more than 2 or even level you up at all. And those godly sets, are far from godly. I believe blizzard put it as a little challenge to higher level players (70+ levels). Even then, those sets are IMPOSSIBLE to find, let alone trade for. Gaining levels just for the set, is well, from my own experience isn't a 5 day job. Like I said before... leveling up is exactly the same as it was in normal D2. if anyone can get to level 70 legit in 5 days...well...damn...you can't. If that was the case, most everyone on closed b.net will be well over level 70...

Your conclusion about the xpac is extremely biased and is based on a few hours of play. If people were to judge EV the same way... damn...I bet people will complain that landing is too hard, or that some ships are too strong/fast... right?

Who says it only comes up once? My friend does it over and over again... he gets 8 people together in Act 5, they go clear out the ancients, and then do it again! That's the lamest way to level I've ever heard of!

Furthermore, I looked at every single new item placed in the game. (info found at http://diabloii.calcon.net/index.shtml). These new items, no matter HOW hard they are to find, totally unbalance the game. Even the new set of exceptional exceptional weapons (elite) is a really bad idea. It was just fine at exceptional.... rare exceptional swords could do around 200-500 damage, and that's more than anyone could ever need... now NORMAL elite items almost do that much!

I think the game was made too easy... I don't need to play it for months to figure that out. And my point is still valid, leveling up is far too easy in the expansion. Remember back with normal D2 when you had to work for your levels? That was fun. This "5 levels in one kill" expansion crap isn't fun or even challenging.

nerf,
Flatty

This is exactly my point. It took me about a year to get a level 60 character on the normal game. You seem to have gotten a level 70+, 50+, etc, etc, in the few months that the expansion has been out.

I'm sorry, but I've seen a sorc go up against the ancient. Didn't seem to have much trouble.... look at the expansion ladder vs. the normal ladder. Everyone on the expansion ladder is lvl 99 (over 400 of 'em)... and there's not one lvl 99 on the normal one.

) but it's a lot more fun getting a character high, and the new items are loads of fun too. Just watch the damage on your druid mount! Diablo has much more replay value now then ever.

The meteor sorc is another story, she's overpowered with 2.5 damg per meteor...but I wanted some variety. The mercenaries are also a lot of fun. Just because its eadier doesn't mean its not fun anymore!
