My Kingdom for more Macintosh-Trek Games!!!

Does anyone know if there are any upcoming Star Trek game conversions to Macintosh?
Like maybe Star Trek: Armada or Star Trek: Birth of the Federation?

Unfortunately, neither of the two you mentioned are being ported. However, Starfleet Command II: Empires at War should be out for the Mac in a few months. Also, DS9: The Fallen has been available for the Mac for a while now (if only they'd port Dominion Wars).

The only Star Trek game I own is the old 25th Anniversary edition. The graphics aren't that great, but the gameplay, battles and missions really make the game somewhat addicting.

Haven't played it in a few years, though.

Heh, same here. You've got to remember about the graphics though, that's an old game, and by the standards of when it was leased, the graphics really weren't that bad. Not good, but not that bad. I seem to recall always flying to the wrong systems on purpose and treating it more like a flight sim, at least after beating it once. After that, the reply value of the scenario is not much greater than Myst's. However, flying off and fighting bands of Klingons was still fun.

Heh heh, I remember it well. Star Trek Judgement Rites is what I had-I think it used the same system. I lost the manual in the first 2 weeks so to determine which system I was needed in I just flew around at random until something happened. Thats the one where Trelane(sp?) from 'The Squire of Gothos' comes back and he's flying a triplane through space.

Actually, I've been able to take 4 Klingon Battlecruisers before... maybe you need to sharpen up your piloting a bit. I will admit that it isn't easy, and it took me a while before I could do so, but it can be done. And since it can, I found that all the more fun, since it was a challenge. It's not fun if there's no way to do it, of course... but there is.

Those were the true days of depravity for me. Its possible, yes, but only with many, many tries and only by clicking like a savage. On my Performa 640, it was really necessary to use full screen mode, and doing that means you have switch back constantly to keep an eye on damage and stuff.

Some old games are still cool. Many of these I am only discovering now. This is not one I would choose to play, except that it was so high tech at the time.

Well, Elite Force is pretty good, and I got a copy of another old one, DS9 Harbinger, which is okay.

And I downloaded the 25th Anniversary one from an abondonware site, and I haven't been able to pass the first mission because I don't have a starmap! Could someone help me with the systems?

Elite Force rocks, and i only have the demo. I'm waiting for OmniGroup to finish their OS X port before I get it, but then I'll be all over. 4 vs 4 CTF rules, and I've only played it with HCs.

Oh man, it's been so long... I think you want system 19 for the first mission, but don't hold me to that. System #7 also sticks in my mind, but I can't remember what for... if you could give me the system name, I could probably look stuff up for you. I think I still have the manual somewhere.

If you could scan the map and post it with the names by them...

And for CTF in Elite force, evem better is 2v5 (you with two) in the level Honor.

I might be able to do something like that, we'll see, but I'm not on my home comp right now anyway.

I much prefer the other CTF level from the demo actually (Starbase Delta or something like that? The one with the 4 level towers and transporters), Honor always takes much too long, the distance between flags is huge. I have played with my team being grossly outnumbered before though, and also with equal numbers on a high level HC setting (Commander at least, maybe even Captain).

Anyone ever play Starfleet Academy? I've always wanted to get an eight-person galactic war going, but since it doesn't work via TCP/IP, and I don't _quite_ have eight capable machines.. :-(

I've got that one too, come to think of it. (Gee, I play other games so much that I forget all the good old Star Trek games I have...) Has anyone ever beat the single player missions? I have never been able to get anywhere on the first mission from disk 5, the one with the stray ships from the diplomatic meeting. I've managed to tractor all 6 of them back to the conference before, but they just attack me there, and when I hail the planet, they say to bring the ships back to the system or something. Anyone know what to do there?

Same here. By constantly speeding up and slowing down, you could usually avoid being hit by most of the Klingon torpedoes while firing off bursts of phasers and torpedoes at nearby targets. I played this 'ol Star Trek game so much that four Klingon battlecruisers became easy targets...

Judgement Rites/25th Anniversary would have to be the greatest Star Trek game of that type released so far - a real classic. 'A Final Unity' didn't capture me as much, even though I vastly preferred Picard's lot to the Original Series.
I never played Harbinger... what kind of game was that, anyway? Any piloting involved?

Speaking of Star Trek: 25th Anniversary, what was everybody's favorite mission who played it?

"Hijack" was pretty good. There were others I liked better, but I can't quite remember the names...

Star Trek: Elite Force. Yes... what a nice game. Only good multiplayer thought. HCs, BLEACH! Be wary though, the full version is not what it seems! A little while ago elite force came out with a 1.2 patch for PC. So ALL the pc servers and players you now cant play with. There is no ETA on the mac patch. There are like six capture the flag servers, and usually aren't very full. So if you buy the full, dont say i didnt warn you! PS if you do buy it say hi to some of my old friends for me, Barbarella, Harry Tuttle, Loki. They'll probobly remember me as Gingerbread Man Though...

Harbinger has the same kind of manuvering as myst-style games: point and click to move. However, unlike myst, you can die. There are also certain little "arcade" segments, that you must pass to advance in the game. If it seems interesting you can probably find it on ebay somewhere...
