As seen at www.maccentral.com:
Blizzard Entertainment has announced plans to bring new updates to their real-time strategy game release StarCraft and its add-on pack, StarCraft: Brood War. The new updates will make the games run in Carbonized form, enabling users to play the games natively using Mac OS X version 10.1 and later.

...

Blizzard spokesperson Beau Yarbrough indicated in a recent statement to Mac news resources that the OS X patches for StarCraft and StarCraft: Brood War will be "available this fall." More specific information about availability and distribution were unavailable. MacCentral will bring more details to light as they become available.

Woo hoo! 1 less reason to boot into classic. Once we get Photoshop and a carbon Graphing Calculator, I get get rid of Classic altogether!

Yeah I read that too. Now they need to get D2 and the original Diablo and the warcraft series and we'll be set.

True, we are. My comp doesn't even have enough space to run it now. With the Diablo II: LoD install, i have under 1 GB left, and I only have 64MB of ram anyways. But I can still hope...

It runs OK in Classic, but there are 2 problems.
1) My second mouse button doesn't seem to work in Classic, and I haven't been able to make it. I know the Command key works too, but I've grown rather attached to my second button. It really dos make the game a lot easier.
2) B.net runs a bit screwy in Classic. I opened port 6112 to UDP packets in the firewall so I can get on, but mouse control and stuff in the game creation and joining screens in particular is much less than desirable.

Of course, I imagine those will be non-issues once it gets carbonized.

I am very excited by this - might be just the thing to renew my interest in Starcraft.

I'm wondering how they're going to work out LAN games, since OS X doesn't have the IPX protocol installed. I guess it may be possible to add a new protocol——I don't really know how to add stuff like that to OS X, since there's no control panels.

I'm sure they'll find a way.
